talk to me about your morning sickness when you were pregnant

if you had morning sickness, all day sickness, whatever, tell me about your child/ren.

i read and have heard that lots of morning sickness means a healthy baby but i feel like thats the same as rain on your wedding day is good luck- something people say to you to make you feel better.

i am wondering if there is any correlation between morning sickness and a high maintainance baby, or allergies, or anything. i am just worried that me being so sick means that something might be wrong with the baby.

please calm my nerves Chat Icon being this sick or this nervous is just too tiring when chasing after a 22.5month old!

Re: talk to me about your morning sickness when you were pregnant

People told me that morning sickness meant you were having a girl...I was pregnant with twins and they ended up being twin girls. I had ALL day sickness from very early on until about 14 weeks...it was awful. My twins are healthy. I have never heard of any of those other things. Many of these things are just old wives tales.

Re: talk to me about your morning sickness when you were pregnant

I dont think being sick during pregnancy makes your baby healthier, but I also dont think that not having it means anything is wrong. Everyone is just different. Every pregnancy is different,

I threw up EVERY SINGLE day until 18 weeks and felt great by 20 weeks (still threw up a few times and threw up during birth LOL).

My DD is a healthy and happy 5 month old, but I dont think that has anything to do with my MS.

Hope you feel better!!! I know it sucksss, but it's worth it :)

nope...i barely had any morning sickness with both my girls...very hungry and if I didn't eat often I'd get a bit queasy. That went away after only a couple of weeks. I have one girl that isn't easy going and one that is super easy going.

Re: talk to me about your morning sickness when you were pregnant

I had morning sickness with my son between 5 to 10 times a DAY every day for over seven months of my pregnancy. He was born with a ton of hair. He got his first hair cut at 3 months because his hair reached his eyes. He is allergic to bananas and some ear infection medication.

With DD I had morning sickness less than 5 times the entire pregnancy. She has finer hair than DS and was born with less of it. She still had hair at birth.

Both of my children were breech births. DS was a footling frank breech and DD was a transverse breech birth.

Re: talk to me about your morning sickness when you were pregnant

Such an old wives tale.
All of it.

I had no morning sickness or any sickness at all and I had a perfectly healthy baby. I had an easy pregnancy, no complications, easy delivery, etc

I also had a girl- and they say if you have a lot of morning sickness it means girl- so I disproved that theory as well

My second pregnancy I felt nauseous until 15 weeks but never threw up & it would come in waves. I did not have it daily though.

My sil hard really bad sickness with both my nephews to the point that she threw up everyday sometimes more then once a day for 9 whole months. Both boys were healthy but both were extremely collic too. Jot sure if there is correlation.

You hit the nail on the head right there. It's like saying, "oh yay, you stepped in dog sh!t! That's good luck!" Chat Icon

I didn't have one minute of morning sickness in 9 months, and had a very healthy pregnancy (and am so grateful for both!). Oh, and I had a Chat Icon. For the record, she didn't "steal my beauty" either. Chat Icon

Honestly i never heard of such a thing. With DS I had very little m/s. Just a little nausea here and there and he's been a healthy little boy with no allergies and has never had any type of infection or been on antibiotics...ever.

Re: talk to me about your morning sickness when you were pregnant

I NEVER had a single second of morning sickness when I was pregnant with my DD. None at all. She was born happy and healthy and she is now 3 1/2 and she has NO allergies to anything at all and she has always been a super easygoing kid.

Morning sickness is just how your body deals with the increase in hormones throughout pregnancy. It is not an indicator of how healthy your baby will be or how easygoing they turn out. It's just a reaction to hormones, nothing more. Chat Icon

I agree. I've read that having morning sickness is a good sign you won't miscarry, but that's bs because I had bad morning sickness and I miscarried. I also just read that having morning sickness means your baby will have a high iq Chat Icon I had it bad with DS from 6 to 16 weeks, but I don't think it has anything to do with him at all, it was just my body dealing in it's own way with the pregnancy.

Re: talk to me about your morning sickness when you were pregnant

I was sick, like vomiting water and severly dehydrated sick from 6 weeks till about 4 months. I was about 20lbs overweight before I got pregnant. I lost about 15lbs during that time. I could barely drink water, I could only stomach some fruit. I was on zofran to control the vomiting, but I didn't want to take a high dose, so ...

I was told I would be fine, eating a varried selection of fruit (eat the rainbow) and taking my vitamins.

Around month 5, I started being able to eat more, by moth 6 I gained that 15lbs I lost. By the end of pregnancy I gained another 45lbs total.

He came out 8lbs 22" long and perfect. Knock on wood, he's rarely sick, strong as an ox, smart as a whip .. I'm baised of course, but I literally could not have asked for more perfect child.

And its just your body's response to the hormones. If you didn't get very sick with your little girl, chances are this one is a boy. Different hormones circulating, I felt it in every fiber of my being. My taste in clothes and colors even changed!

I just wanted to assure you, I ate almost nothing the first few months, it really doesn't matter, baby will get what they need from your body. Every doctor kept telling me that, the vitamins are more to keep me healthy and strong, rather than do anything for the baby. At one point I couldn't even stomach vitamins.

I threw up every morning. Twice the morning my DS was born. And he was a boy, everyone swore I was having a girl before we found out because I was so sick. He's a healthy kid, no allergies so far, very happy. Good to the point that I say our next one is going to be a nightmare because he is such a good baby and we're spoiled now.

One thing they did comment on every time we had a sono was how much he moved. We could see him moving around at 8 weeks on the sono. So I think that just means I'm in trouble once this kid figures out how to walk! Chat Icon

Re: talk to me about your morning sickness when you were pregnant

with DS i had morning sickness my ENTIRE pregnancy ALL DAY long.

DS was born with Kidney Reflux, he was Colic & he is Autistic.

with DD i had morning sickness in the MORNING only and was only for about 4 months...

she is otherwise 100% healthy besides chronic ear infections (before tubes) and 3 since her tubes fell out...and advanced for her age.

i don't think there is any Rhyme or Reason to any of those old wives tales...

D, I was sick all day, every day until 17 weeks with A. It was awful! But when it finally passed, I felt great. I couldn't even remember what it felt like to be that sick. I felt wonderful for the rest of my pregnancy (really, until the week I was overdue). Clearly, it didn't hinder Aubrey in any way. She didn't want to get out! Chat Icon She was born big, but perfectly healthy and remains that way now (knock, knock!). She was also not high maintenance in any other way.

Were you sick with DD? Maybe this baby is just pumping out a little extra hormones that you're reacting to. Or maybe something in your own body chemistry has changed and it's making you more sensitive to the hormones this time around.

I don't think it means anything one way or another--it's just the way your body reacts to the hormones.

Feel better! I hope it passes quickly.

Re: talk to me about your morning sickness when you were pregnant

I had horrible morning sickness both times. This pregnancy was by far the worst. Both are boys, so there goes that old wives tale that M/S means a your having a girl.

My DS has always been pretty healthy. He doesn't get sick very often at all, but he is also not in any kind of daycare.
BUT...
He did have acid refulx as a infant and was put on medication very young. He was not an easy newborn.
He also has a Peanut and almond allergy. It is a very mild one that he may grow out of. We have no allergies in our familys, so this was a bit of a surprise.

I still have 3 more weeks for this baby, so we shall see.

I don't think it really matters though.

I had morning sickness with DS and now with this DC.

I kinda describe it as a hang over without having any beer. But its all day long and for me it lasts till 12-14 weeks and comes back again towards the very end :(
