Teacher's aide or assistant?
Hello! Just curious if anyone knows how to get into this field. I have about 60 liberal art credits and was wondering what other degrees or certifications would be needed. If anyone knows where I could find such info I would appreciate it. I currently reside in Queens but will be moving to the island. Thanks again!

Go to the NYSED web site. They have info, and you need to take 2 classes, take a standardized test and send in your transcripts... I think that is all. Of ocure it takes a long time to get it all and geti t credited. You apply to jobs through through OLAS.
But just to let you know, if you don't have any experience you re pretty much SOL. I completed my certificate earlier last year and applied for EVERYTHING and never heard back... I have experience w/kids but not as a TA. It's the economy - full fledged teachers are taking the jobs. not to mention all of the TA's w/experience.
