Teachers who pump- how many times?
I go back to work on Monday I am very sad to leave DD but I know that I am lucky to have a job in this economy and that I am also very lucky to have such great breaks etc.
DD is EBF at the moment and I would like to try and keep it up till at least 6 months.
What is your pumping schedule?
Ideally, I'd like to nurse her at 5 am, put her back down, work out and get ready for work, pump before I leave (around 720), pump at lunch (11) maybe pump at prep? nurse her 2 more times at home, and then pump before bed?
Am I being realistic? DD eats 7x a day but I think is going to drop a feeding soon...
TIA

Re: Teachers who pump- how many times?
I am not a teacher BUT I only pump once at work for 15 minutes at 10AM and so far it has been going great!
I pump at 4:30, 10, whenever I get home and then 8.

not a teacher either but my pumping schedule is every five hours- so I do 7am, noon and then when I start work, I'll do 5:30 when I get home so I only have to pump once at work

Re: Teachers who pump- how many times?
I am a teacher and I am going back on Monday too. I am going to nurse her right when we get to daycare (7:45ish), and then pump at lunch. My lunch and prep are only 30 minutes each...I can't spend both of them pumping, or I will never get out of the building at the end of the day.
ETA: I am also going to pump before I go to bed to hopefully get whatever else I need for the next day.

Re: Teachers who pump- how many times?
I nursed him on side when we got up. The second side right before I left. Then I pumped on my prep at around 10 and at lunch at 12:30. Sometimes I would have to add a night session right before I went to sleep. It worked until about 7 months when I had to use my freezer stash and then at 8 months I ran out of my freezer supply and need to supplement with formula.

pumped before I left. pumped on my prep around 10. & then pumped again on lunch.
At least I tried. Sometimes if I got to busy I would only be able to pump on lunch.

Re: Teachers who pump- how many times?
I would get up around 4:30 to pump b/c she was still sleeping. Then I would pump during lunch (11:30 or so). Then I'd nurse or pump as soon as I got home.
Ideally, I would have liked to pump more but it was very hard to get a room to myself, where I knew no one would barge in. Space is really at a premium in my school and I wasn't willing to use a book closet or bathroom. But that was only for 6 weeks (then summer came) and it worked out. On the rare occasions I had a prep AND and empty classroom, I'd get in another session.

Re: Teachers who pump- how many times?
I usually feed DS around 5am, pump once during the day - usually at lunchtime (11:45) - then nurse when I get home and again before bed.
I only pump once a day, and get enough for bottles the next day - but, DS is already on solids, so he doesn't drink as much. Until he was on solids, the nanny was using 2-5 ounces from the freezer stash in addition to what I would pump at work.

It is actually a law now that they have to provide a clean, private space. I am getting my school to clean out a storage closet. With 6 other pregnant teachers and two other nursing teachers, it is now considered the "motherhood room"

Re: Teachers who pump- how many times?
I'm not a teacher, but I'm an SLP who worked in a school went I went back to work at 6 weeks.
I used to wake up at 5 and BF.
I pumped 3 times at work. I started off with 2 times, but when Loey started to take more ounces/feeding, I went up to 3 and it was perfect.
I BF'd at home.
I never pumped at home when I went back to work.

This is what I used to do. I also didn't have my own room when I went back. I had to make arrangements with my friends to pump in their rooms.

Re: Teachers who pump- how many times?
I'm probably the minority here but I don't pump at school. I BF and pump before work (around 7) so I'm completely empty. I then BF when I get home around 3:45. I've had no issues. 3 of my friends also did/do this.
