Team Green - did u fit the stereotype?

one of the downfalls (to me) of being team Chat Icon is that everyone gives their two cents, guesses, old wives tales to tell you what you are having and why. DH and I are steadfast believers that regardless of how you're carrying, what the heart rate is, dreams about gender and so on... it's a 50/50 shot - boy or girl!

so for those who didn't find out... did you end up fitting the stereotype of the gender everyone told you all along or did you end up bucking the trend and proving people wrong?

(this thought comes from a girl who told me last night that everyone told her she was having a boy and lo and behold when she gave birth, they announced "it's a girl!)

Re: Team Green - did u fit the stereotype?

Nope- everyone- myself included thought I was having a girl. DC #1 was a boy.

I am still 23 days from delivery with this team green baby and everyone again is saying girl- but that's mostly because I already have a boy Chat Icon

I have loved the experience both times- it really was the ultimate suprise. People will tell you that the surprise is the same at 20 weeks as 40- but I call BS on that lol.

Re: Team Green - did u fit the stereotype?

My first 2 were boys and people said boy.

I'm team green this time around and a few people have said boy - I also think nobody wants to get my hopes up and say girl :)

Re: Team Green - did u fit the stereotype?

you might want to cross post this on the parenting board since most of the team green'ers (like me!) don't know what we're having yet Chat Icon For the record everyone tells me I'm having a boy and all along I've felt like it's a boy too, but in the last month I'm not so sure, now I'm thinking girl! I'll have an answer for you in the next month hopefully! lol

Re: Team Green - did u fit the stereotype?

Well I hope I didn't the first time around, but people insisted on telling me "my face got ______" insert round, changed, ugly. One woman was kind enough to hold off until after I had her to say "I knew you were having a girl, I also got really ugly when I had my daughter" If that wasn't bad enough, she added a "woof" at the end.

I am not lying LOL.

I don't believe any of the stereotypes. This time around I am carrying way rounder/bigger so people are telling me boy.... I will be happy with either Chat Icon

Team Green - did u fit the stereotype?

I was not team green and had an amnio so I knew 100% with out a doubt I was havign a boy but everyone would tell me gril because of how I was carrying.

Here is my theory on the idea of you are carrying like its a girl/boy.

We all gain weight and carry it in a certain way so why would PG be any different. So I gain weight in my lower section so I looked like I was carrying a girl.

All the theories are BS.

I wasn't team green, but everyone - including random strangers - told me I was having a boy. I had a girl.

Re: Team Green - did u fit the stereotype?

I'm due tomorrow so I'll report back on this soon -- but a good majority of people say they think boy.

I don't believe in any of the wives tales, stereotypes, etc.

I've got friends having boys whom I think look like they're carrying girls. And vice versa.

Friends carrying girls who look absolutely beautiful. Also some whose faces have completely changed. But also friends with boys whose faces have changed completely.

I've seen boy/girl babies with low/high heartrates, etc. and then vice versa.

All the wives tales -- are lots of fun to speculate on. But I feel like the BIG one is that people carrying girls have their beauty stolen. So when you tell people they look like they're carrying a girl I feel awkward about it.

Belly low/high -- I dont believe has anything to do with sex of baby. It's just different every pregnancy.

My grandma carried "like a girl" her first two pregnancies and "like a boy" her third. All 3 were girls. Everyone was shocked Chat Icon

Team Green - did u fit the stereotype?

I was team green both times.

For DS 1 - everyone was convinced he was a boy - the way I was carrying, the way my pregnancy was going, some napkin test, the people who are really good at guessing what you are having, etc. I was convinced he was a boy as well.

For DS 2 - everyone was convinced he was a girl. It was quite a surprise when a boy popped out that St Patrick's Day evening!

With my first pregnancy, most people swore boy by the way I carried, but I had a girl. This pregnancy, it's still too early to tell. I'm 18w but still not really showing, so people haven't been making their predictions yet (other than "gut" feelings).

Re: Team Green - did u fit the stereotype?

I was always team green. My first everyone said Chat Icon and they were right. My 2nd everyone said Chat Icon and they were wrong, I had a girl. This time a lot of people are saying Chat Icon but found out im having a Chat Icon . I will never tell someone they are carrying like a girl because of the whole "girls steal your beauty" It's completely false and I would feel horrible to make someone feel that way.

Re: Team Green - did u fit the stereotype?

I'm not team green but I didn't find out until I was into the third trimester so there was a lot of guessing going on.... more people by far guessed boy and they were right.... however in the past few weeks a ton of strangers have asked me if I'm having a girl, not sure why.

Re: Team Green - did u fit the stereotype?

I love hearing everyone's "prediction" stories! it's so funny how people aren't afraid to tell you just how they think you look Chat Icon like when people say "you still look good so it must be a boy" or "I think your hips got wider so it's prob a girl".... haha I've never met so many experts

Re: Team Green - did u fit the stereotype?

Everyone and their mom thought I was having a boy….friends, family, strangers…everyone! I even started to think it was a boy too! All my old wives tales, the heart rate, how I was carrying, etc made me believe boy too.

Lo and behold…it was a girl!!!! BEST SURPRISE EVER!

everyone kept telling me I was having a girl, not sure if it was because my brother and sister all have boys, but I did end up having a girl. Chinese gender prediction also said girl.

Re: Team Green - did u fit the stereotype?

most people (including myself and DH) thought we were having a boy
we did a gender guess poll at my shower, and it was something like 80% people guessed boy and 20% guessed girl.

here is my LIF post asking what people thought - granted this was based solely on belly size, but we had a few more boy votes
my bump pic

and it turns out we had a girl!
best surprise ever

I had a girl, and knew I was having a girl, but I fit all the girl stereotypes...from the way I carried to the way my nose spread 2 inches in each direction across my face!!

Same nose thing happened to my mom w/ me & my sister, but not with my brother.

Re: Team Green - did u fit the stereotype?

Some yes and some no.

I "knew" I was having a boy, to the point that family and friends were convinced I found out and just wasn't telling anyone. I even referred to the DS as "he" most of my pregnancy up until the day he was born.
