teething ... any creative suggestions to help those teeth
I cannot even verbalize what I'm feeling watching my angel being possessed by some teeething monstrosity. Worst part is at 3m ped confirmed teething. We were shocked it was so early, but were also warned it could last weeks till teeth emerged.
But its been months, he's 5m now. Its terrible, he just reminds me of tazmanian devil in those old cartoons. He thrusts himself towards any thing, mouth wide open, mommy, daddy, the bathtub, water, no exceptions, its like he's trying to chew on water in the batth
I see white, but I've been seeing it. Bottles are left half full, sleep disturbed... on and on. Diahreah, but no fever.
We have been doing teething tablets like crazy, I give ibuprofen on really bad nights only. I really try to medicate as little as possible.
He's so bad now he grunts and roars while chewing on toys. He cries for the pacifire constantly, only to be frustrated with it and pulls it out.
I would beg for someone to tell me the end is near, but all those teeth
How do you survive? What do you do? Any more tricks? Anything to help push these terrible 2 first teeth out, they have been sitting under the gums for 2 months.
I'm sorry for the long vent, I'm just out of my mind exhausted.
Tylenol seems to work no better than teething tabs for us, that's why we use ibuprofen with docs guidance

Re: teething ... any creative suggestions to help those teeth
I feel your pain...DS started teething at 8 weeks. He didn't get his first tooth until almost 6 months...I tried everything. I found the best thing was frozen grapes in a mesh feeder. That and chewing on my knuckles. He is now 9 months and his pedi said at his 8 month visit that he should get his top teeth any day. We are still waiting. Some people say to use a frozen washcloth. DS didn't care for it.

Re: teething ... any creative suggestions to help those teeth
Oh this sounds AWFUL!!!! DS was an early teether too but they popped out with relatively little trouble. So sorry you're dealing with this so long.
I don't know about expediting the teeth but 2 things I know helped us are: -wet a washcloth and stick it in the freezer; he'll suck/chew on that and it will help. I think the cold plus the texture is quite soothing. -He had a few nights of troubled sleep, I knew it was cause when he was laying down his gums would throb with pooled blood, so I bought cribblox - they're like risers for one end of the crib (where his head goes). They REALLY helped. Even just that slight inclination helped alleviate the pain a bit.
Maybe someone will have more ideas, I hope they pop out soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those are great ideas Colette - definitely elevate the crib!
Put an ice cube in one of those mesh feeders and let him chew on that.
It stinks to see them in pain

First, the washcloth, do you fold it? Or shape it any way? Is it wet throughout, or slightly damp?
The risers seem like a good idea, hmm I wonder if it would work to put phone books under the legs.

Also try one of those textured binkys... I heard those do wonders! My friend used to throw hers in the freezer for about 10 mins before giving it to her DC

How many grapes and do you freeze them so they stick together?

You'll want to thoroughly wet the cloth and kind of "twist" it for freezing! I'd be afraid to use phone books, if the baby moves or rolls around they could dislodge the crib (well mine anyway, since it has 4 legs, I suppose if you had a solid base crib it would be ok). You could also try to roll up a bath towel and place that UNDER the head section of his mattress. If he's not too mobile that might provide just the incline he needs!

Re: teething ... any creative suggestions to help those teeth
you can try to rub your finger against dc gums...at first he may hate it but then will like it...as far as freezing a wash cloth you can use a little juice with the water to give it some flavor...the mesh feeders work good too just a apple to gnaw on can help, I even heard some put an ice cube in there....hang in there

I cut a bunch of grapes in half and put them in a container in the freezer. I then fill the feeder up with as many as I can fit in it. DS will chew on it for a long time. And he usually wants more...

Re: teething ... any creative suggestions to help those teeth
teething is certainly no fun, I feel like my son went through so many rounds of teething and his first tooth didn't cut until 10 months. Now at 21 months I think we are in the clear. The mesh feeders always worked best for us with ice cubes or frozen fruit, also try freezing those mini bagels for him to chew on if your ped says it's ok
