Teething or sick?

DS has been very moody/cranky/mushy (very unlike him) for the past few days. Both of his eye teeth seem to be coming through. One tip just popped through recently and both are swollen and whiteish. This morning DS had 101.5 fever. I gave him tylenol and he's sleeping now. Just wondering if you think it may be more than just the teething. He doesn't have any other symptoms. Sorry if this seems dumb, but honestly he has really never been sick (aside form a slight cold once) and he's almost 18 months! Any feedback would be appreciated!

Re: Teething or sick?

The eye teeth wer BRUTAL for us. I don't think my DS ever had higher than 100 degree temp while teething, but I guess it could be from that. I think Motrin helps more with the teething pain, especially at night. Chat Icon

OK after DS woke up, his temp. was 102.3Chat Icon Highest fever he's ever had. Called the dr. (closed for holiday), he said to give motrin or tylenol throughout the night. If he's not better tomorrow, he'll go to the dr. Now I'm so stressed. I'm a teacher and I have Meet The teacher night tomorrow.Chat Icon

Poor thing. I hope he feels better soon. I know my ped said if it is anything higher than low grade (I think that is under 101) it is not teething but a virus or illness.

I hope he has a quick recovery.
