Tell me all about Commack!
Hi all! We're currently house hunting and I'm unfamiliar with certain areas so I thought I'd ask here. I figured I'd copy my Smithtown post since I have the same questions about Commack!
Please tell me all about Commack!
The good and the bad, anything a prospective buyer should know? How is the school district?
To those with kids in the school district, how has your experience been?
Is this a safe area? Also, how close is the LIRR? How is the commute to the city?
Are there any areas we should avoid buying in?
Feel free to FM. Thanks!

Tell me all about Commack!
I have a coworker who lives in Commack and likes it. Neither she nor her her husband commute into the city.
If commuting is a big issue for you, I wouldn't consider anywhere in Suffolk at all. I would stay as west as humanly possible.

my cousin lives in commack and loves it! nice neighborhood and very very good schools.
She is a teacher in queens and hates the commute though. Luckily, two coworkers live in commack so they carpool. But it's still well over an hour!

Are we cousins, lol? I teach in queens and have 2 co-workers too carpool with.
I love that it's near everything. You have a variety of neighborhoods but every one is good. There are no bad parts. Only in the schools for 2 years but happy.

Schools in Commack are very good. Parts of Dix Hills and E. Northport also go to Commack schools. It's a pretty big district. Parts of Commack are in the Town of Huntington and other parts are in the Town of Smithtown. And there really are no "bad" parts of Commack. A lot of people in Commack grew up here and are now raising their own families here

Re: Tell me all about Commack!
Commack schools are consistently well-rated. It's a large district but there are no "bad" areas. Lots of local shopping and it's easy to get to highways. FWIW one of my friends bough a house there last year. Both she and her husband are teachers in Queens. Their commutes are about 60-ish minutes each, but they have a great house and an enormous yard.

Re: Tell me all about Commack!
I grew up in Commack. Great school district, no bad areas. The LIRR is not close though. You would have to drive up to the Kings Park train station or we used to drive to Deer Park so we'd be on the main line. And it's a long train ride.
