telling my work - when/how did you do it?
I was thinking about telling them this week while things are slow and I'll have time to talk to my boss (next week things are going to get VERY hectic and it probably wouldn't be the best time). I'm 13 weeks along... curious when others shared the news.
I'm a little nervous only because my job doesn't do maternity leave (we don't even have real sick or vacation time - it's pathetic). I plan to just quit when I have the baby and be a SAHM. If we're struggling too much with that financially then I plan to babysit or open my own home daycare (I have my degree in Early Childhood). So telling my boss is kinda hard because i'm basically giving my 6 month notice.
Any advice from anyone who was in a similar situation i would definitely appreciate

I wouldn't tell them that you're quitting after you deliver; I'd wait on that for awhile. JMO though.
I told my principal after 12/13 weeks, and just said, "I have some exciting news!" and slid a sono pic across his desk. He has four kids and was happy for me.

i think now is a great time to tell him!
i work for 2 bosses ~ i made them take me to lunch to discuss a project and than told them there. they were both happy for me! i mean ~ unless your boss is a real jerk how could anyone not be?
if youre planning on leaving after the baby is born offer to train a replacement or finish a big project before you go, etc. also by telling them now you are leaving them PLENTY of time to figure out a plan. it will make you very valuable to them and show that you are keeping his business in mind and that you care.
good luck! once people at the office know i felt like everyone suddenly was nicer to me!

I told my boss at 12 weeks... we had a team lunch planned that day, so I was then able to share the news with everyone all at once, which was nice.

I don't plan on telling my boss until I start showing. I had a miscarriage last year at 16 weeks and everyone in the office knew. I am NOT going through that again.

Re: telling my work - when/how did you do it?
well I feel like i do want to give her plenty of notice that she needs to start looking for a replacement for me. She should really hire somebody to come in pretty soon and work WITH me for a while and then take over when I leave. I know that she'll ask me what my plans are as soon as i tell her I'm pregnant so I'd have to be honest and let her know that I plan to leave. Honestly, if you're not going to offer me maternity leave or even just some paid vacation time then how can you EXPECT me to stay?? She has no children and seems to take it very personally when people quit, so I'm not sure how she'll react to this. Maybe better because she knows I'm not leaving because I hate the job or anything - I'm having a baby. We'll see I guess. I just don't want to wait too long and then it seems like I'm hiding something. I think they're getting very suspicious already. Some of my co-workers have made comments because of my constant nausea and bathroom breaks in the whole first trimester.
