Telling your boss
How far along were you when you told your boss? Did you go talk to them just about that, or was it work/personal convo? I am having major anxiety about telling my boss! I am 15w with #3 (first two were at at different job and I had a different relationship with my boss) and I am starting to show. I need to tell him but I am dreading it for some reason!

Re: Telling your boss
with my first I dreaded it too. I waited until 20w but I felt like I couldn't tell them any later than that. I had a weird relationship with my bosses and they were just weird people in general. it gave me SO much anxiety. I told them both in their office and it became a little personal but short and to the point lol. I wanted to get in and out as soon as possible. good luck !!

Re: Telling your boss
I've had a very good relationship with my bosses at this job so I told them right away all times. I would have preferred to wait a little longer, especially the first time, but I had many bleeding scares and had to run off to the dr several times in those early weeks.
In all cases I just asked them if they had a few minutes to chat in a conference room and that is when I told them. Good luck! Even though I got/get along great with the bosses, I still felt anxious telling them!

Telling your boss
I told my direct boss pretty much immediately. I had bad MS with DD so I wanted to make sure she knew why I'd be running out of the office if I was feeling sick but never had MS this time around.

Re: Telling your boss
For both of my pregnancies I had to tell them early - around 10w. My first pregnancy, we were going to Chelsea Piers and I couldn't participate. My second I was sick and spotting so I told my boss so she didn't think anything else was going on. I didn't go public at work with everyone else until around 13w, after the NT scan.

Re: Telling your boss
My immediate supervisor knew before I got pregnant. He's an angel.
The chairman (my overall boss) found out when I had to take an emergency leave at 14 weeks. She was very kind... It went much better than expected!

Similar for me. I think I told her in late March and I was due late June. I just didn't feel comfortable before then. I ended up leaving before I had my DD anyway for another job in late April

Re: Telling your boss
With my first I had to tell them at 10 weeks because I tried to make dr. appts during my lunch hour and was always running back from lunch late. From then on I learned to schedule my appts after work...
With this one I told them at 14 weeks. I was going to tell them at our office meeting anyway later that week but it just so happened my boss mentioned her daughter was pregnant and due a few days before me so I just brought up that I was pregnant too.

I told my immediate boss at 10 weeks because I wasn't feeling well and was coming in later than usual for me. I told everyone else after my 16 weeks appointment at an office meeting

Telling your boss
I'm dreading telling mine. I work for two brothers that are not personal AT ALL. There has not been any babies in my office in 24 years so I'm not sure what to expect. I'm lucking that my MS didn't cause me to run out a lot but I'm coming up on a bunch of appointments so I'm either going to have to make up a reason for having to leave early so much or let them know soon. I'm 11w today. I wanted to wait until at least 12w which is right before my back to back appointments.

Re: Telling your boss
With my first, it was definitely after the NT scan, so 13+ weeks. This time, I told my immediate supervisor at like 4 weeks. Lol. He was talking about training in July and August and I told him I couldn't go. He looked at me and I just told him. But we have a great relationship, he's only a year older than me, and he has young boys. I haven't told anyone else though, even though I'm 17 weeks and definitely showing! I'm being gun shy from my loss this summer but will definitely say something soon.

Telling your boss
I am so surprised at how many of you told so early! I am 15w 1d and haven't even told DH's extended family!
I told my boss with DD1 at 20w, but I wanted to wait until after my annual review/bonus disucssion. With DD2 I was at the same job and told around 13w because that was when I started to show. This time I will be around 16w when I finally tell my boss!

Re: Telling your boss
I DREADED telling my boss, but I had to at 16 weeks because I work in a field where I handle chemicals so they needed to know. I was pleasantly surprised with how well it went. The anticipation was the worst though. Sometimes its better to just get it over with and then you don't have it hanging over your head. GL!

Re: Telling your boss
Yeah I didn't want to either!!
At the time, I was planning on doing it around 4 months -- figured, wait as long as I could because I didn't show for a very long time but I couldn't wait TOO long because then it was like I was trying to hide it... So, I figured between 3-4 months.
Well, that went to shit because one day, I was like two months along, my boss was like "can you help me lift this table?" and here is this HUGE, heavy folding table. And I was, first of all, high risk, and second of all, not far along -- and here I am, recalling my doc telling me all the things NOT to do and one of the first things was heavy lifting!!
So, I'm like uhhhhhhh, ummmmm....
He just looked at me, confused.
I'm like, yeah.... I was going to wait to tell you but I'm kind of pregnant.
He was very happy for me and it worked out but yeah the cat got let out of the bag way before I had planned on it as a result of that.
GL!!

Re: Telling your boss
I told after the 12w mark. It was actually kind of funny, because she thought I was coming in to quit my job. There had been a lot of nonsense going on around that time and walked into her office, closed the door and said "I need to talk to you about something......"

Funny - my boss had the same reaction when I told him I was pregnant with DD2!!

Telling your boss
for some reason I was terrified as well. This is my 3rd pregnancy with this job and I had just been promoted about a few months prior to me telling my boss.
technically, they can't say anything negative but I just didn't want any awkward weird comments, plus I am due in June, so I would have the summer off. I think I was about 17 wks or so when I told my boss.
it was all in my head, everything went fine! she was happy and didnt bat an eyelash that I would be "off" for the summer. you will feel better once the cat is out of the bag!
