What do LI districts look for when you are up for tenure - it's my first year in the district and I want to make sure that I don't miss anything...TIA

Re: Tenure ?
I know that I did a lot of extras my first 3 years. I wanted to show that I was active in the district.
I chaperoned everything I could.
I took over Spirit Week which was not a paid position.
I did review classes and grading for the ELA.
And I showed up at a lot of the schools activities that were not during school hrs.
I have been in my district 6 years and I still do a lot of these things.

Re: Tenure ?
Legally, all they CAN evlaluate you on for tenure is your observations. you should be getting formally observed with written reports 3x a year.
I also did extra things... taking on extras like serving on committees, chaperoning events, after-school programs at the school, etc. Make yourself open and available to colleagues and check in with your principal. they should know you and like you and tenure will be a breeze.
GOOD LUCK!
