Terrible Two's???
does this include biting themselves??? Since Friday, if Bella gets upset or doesn't get what she wants, she bites...herself! Enough to leave marks??? It's very upsetting and I am not sure what to do, she also attempted to bite a boy in school, but stopped when she realized the teacher was watching. They seem to think she doesn't know what to do with her anger/frustration...
I keep telling her that she should use her works and that we don't bite others or ourselves...but I am not sure what else to do.

Yeah, Alex will do that. She won't bite herself, but she'll squeeze her arms or pinch herself so hard that it turns red, when she's really upset.
I've just been doing what I always do - I tell her firmly, NO, we do not pinch/bite, and will immediately put her down in a corner and walk away. It seems to be diminishing the more we ignore her when she goes into this kind of tantrum.

Re: Terrible Two's???
Abby hit herself in the head and bit herself when she did not get her way. At first it really upset me and freaked me out. I started to realize that if I ignored it and she did not get a reaction out of me it stopped pretty fast. When she would bite herself and I ignored it she would come over to me and show me her boo-boo. I would just say "then you shouldn't have bit yourself" There is no sympathy for self-inflicted wounds in this house.
Biting others is another story. You have to discipline against that.

oh, I know that biting others is definitely in need of major discipline...Bella NEVER even attempted any of this until she was bitten at daycare two weeks ago. Now, the teachers say she bit herself several times on Friday and she did so several times while throwing a fit over the weekend. She made a move to bite someone in daycare, but one stern look from the teacher and she backed off, which they were pleased about because she listened...
This is also coupled with major tantrum behavior (throwing herself on the floor when not getting what she wants)
wasn't sure if this was ALL part of the fun TT's...

Wow, no Jared isn't biting himself...but he's saying "smack it!" whenever he's frustrated...which is like 15 times a day...

Re: Terrible Two's???
my dd is almost 4 and still going through all this stuff.. she hits, throws herself on the floor and has now started biting.. not herself though.. basically just my fiance.. which is an issue in itself im sure. but yeah, they dont know how to get out their anger/frustration and i think they figure they will get what they want or get attention if they bite/hit themselves because when they get a boo boo we pamper them/give them attention usually. theyre smarter than they know, they just dont know what to do with it. if you find a cure for the terrible 2s, 3s, 4s, etc.. let me know please.
