Re: Testing positive for strep b while pg
Yes, with my first 2 pregnancies. Not a big deal. I just had to receive antibiotics while in labor. With my second, my labor was quick and I didn't have time to receive the full course, so ds was given antibiotics after he was born.

Re: Testing positive for strep b while pg
I replied on the pregnancy boards but I'll post it here too. I had it with both of my other kids. I was told to go right to the hospital for the antibiotics if my water broke, which it did. I was at the hospital within about 60 minutes of my water breaking and had the iv. Both of my kids were totally fine. It is very common so there is no need to panic. I believe it's only an issue if you do not know your gbs + and do not receive the antibiotics.

Re: Testing positive for strep b while pg
I tested positive for my second. When I got into my delivery room the gave me antibiotics. It takes a few hours to be effective and by the time I pushed her out it was the exact amount of time to be effective. The nurse was shocked and happy that I made it by the exact hour. I guess if you don't they have to test and watch the baby for whatever can happen. I pushed her out fast and was only in the bed for 4 hours before ready to push. So it happened pretty quickly. But that's not usually the case. I wouldn't worry to much. We weren't and either was my doctor/nurse

Don't worry. It's very common. You will get an antibiotic when you get to the hospital.

Re: Testing positive for strep b while pg
I tested positive and actually wound up having a crazy fast labor so no time for anti biotics, baby was born in her sac so there was no issue (ie water never broke)
