Testing your blood (finger prick) for GD
How bad is it?? I got pregnant with IVF so I'm used to needles (even though I'm still scared of them), but for some reason I'm having anxiety over the finger prick..is it that bad?

Sorry to crash. My grandmother has Diabetes and pricks her fingers everyday. She learned to alternate hands/fingers. She aslo puts warm compresses on them afterwards, it helps aleviate some of the discomfort.

I had GD with my first pregnancy and the finger prick is no big deal at all. You can do it in any finger...and in other places other then your finger tips if youare worried about that area getting sensitive.

Re: Testing your blood (finger prick) for GD
it's not bad at all. I had the first prick at 13w and then the second one done at 16w.
Both times they just take your finger and stick it with a tiny needle--don't even feel it. honestly, it's not bad at all and I'm BAD with needles. They put a bandaid on and I was able to take it off after like 5 min it had already closed

Re: Testing your blood (finger prick) for GD
I had a pre-k student 2 years ago with diabetes and her mom and the school nurse and my sister who is also a nurse said to prick your finger on the side not right in the middle of your fingertip because the sides have less nerves in them and it doesn;t hurt as much. Hope this helps!
