Tetanus Shot Arm Pain (If you had it)
I received a tetanus shot on Tuesday and have been in terrible pain since. My arm hurts SO bad. I can't even raise it at all, and forget about getting comfortable to sleep. I feel like I've been stabbed with a dozen knives! If you had this feeling, when did you feel relief? I also have had a low grade fever since.

Re: Tetanus Shot Arm Pain (If you had it)
I had that when I got my shot last year. Nothing relieved the pain. I took ibuprofen with codeine and that sort of helped. It was warm to the touch for a day or so and there was a bump. After about a week, the pain and bump were gone.

Tetanus Shot Arm Pain (If you had it)
i remember the doctor asking me if i was a righty or a lefty because he put the shot in the opposite arm. he warned me about the pain.
it was 10 years ago... i'm due for a booster.
i don't remember how long it lasted, but it was no joke

Re: Tetanus Shot Arm Pain (If you had it)
Had one two years ago and it hurt ALOT more than I would have imagined. Took at least a few days to feel better. It was an IM (intramuscular) so that's why it hurt more.

Re: Tetanus Shot Arm Pain (If you had it)
I had a dull to moderate pain for several weeks.
Turns out, I had two shots within a year. (One was done away from home.) My regular doctor told me to be very careful not to have another one before 10 years.

Tetanus Shot Arm Pain (If you had it)
Had one last October and it hurt like hell for a couple of days. Just about as bad as the second degree burn that I had to get the shot for. The pain turned into a dull ache that lasted about a week, but the egg sized lump that formed lasted a few weeks. Try warm compresses. M

Re: Tetanus Shot Arm Pain (If you had it)
Bunnywife on here made a great suggestion to me prior to a series of shots I had to get for travelling (including the tetanus) - do push-ups afterward...I guess it gets everything in your arms flowing?
My shot didn't really hurt much...a little burning at the site of the injection and my arm felt a little heavy for a couple of days. I did some stretching after (I got the shot and went to work, couldn't exactly drop and give push-ups) and that might have helped things flow through my muscles. I don't know if its too late for you to try that or if it even appeals to you now since you're in such pain, but I thought I'd throw it out there. Feel better!

Good tip! But I can't even put pressure on it now without feeling the excruciating pain! I bet that would have worked right when I came home, since the pain didn't set in until that evening!

Re: Tetanus Shot Arm Pain (If you had it)
I had one a long time ago. Got it when my finger was closed in a metal door.
definitely lasted a few days. I remember my arm feeling swollen like my muscle was going to rip out of my skin.
Definitely lasted a few days.

Tetanus Shot Arm Pain (If you had it)
I just had one about 2 months ago..it didn't hurt for a a day or two- then I felt the pain. It wasn't horrible, but it hurt to move my arm. Dr gave it to me in my left because I'm a righty. definitely need to keep the blood flowing.

Re: Tetanus Shot Arm Pain (If you had it)
I have had the same thing in the past. I usually just try to keep it iced to help dull the pain, or Thermacare patches. Feel better

Shaun had one over the summer and he also had some pain with it. It took about a week before the pain subsided

Tetanus Shot Arm Pain (If you had it)
Got one YEARS ago Never again ever
The pain is inescapable. That's the worst part. Not so much that it hurts so bad but that NOTHING helps it. Just inescapable pain. I recall it going on for a least a week.

NO! I don't like to take medicine in general, but I loaded up on Advil and it didn't help a single bit!!! It took my fever away of course though. It's a bit better today, still hurts, but not quite as bad!
