Tevo vs. Cablevision DVR

Any opinions would really be appreciated as to user friendliness, cost, features, etc.
I want one but don't know which is better. Thanks.

DVR much better then Tivo. Tivo you need a phone line and I believe you can only tape what you are watching? You can tape 40 hours

DVR 110 hours (trust me it adds up) tape 2 shows.

Re: Tevo vs. Cablevision DVR

I have TIVO. You can actually record 2 shows at a time and there are different sizes for recorders. We have the 40 hour one but they have an 80 hour one and they might, I'm not sure, have a bigger one than that.

My friends have the DVR and they say they like our TIVO better because TIVO puts the shows you record into a folder. so lets say you record 10 episodes of one show, it's all in one folder for you to choose from. Rather then having to scroll through everything you recorded to find each episode.

We have the DVR, (2 of them) and we love it. You can tape 2 things at once which is great.

WE are so happy we got it... i love that you can pause anything at anytime..

Re: Tevo vs. Cablevision DVR

Did anyone get the DVR striaght thru Cablevision and know the cost?
I think we are going to get this, but I hate calling Cablevision with questions...TIA

And the reason we wont get TIVO is because we dont have a land line phone..

The DVR unit itself is free, you pay for the service which is $10 bucks a month.

Re: Tevo vs. Cablevision DVR

We just got DVR through Cablevision last month and love it! I was afraid we'd watch even more TV with it, but people kept telling me we'd "watch TV more efficently."Chat Icon I don't know about that, but it is great.

June262004 - when you say you can tape 2 at once, you have to be watching one of them, right? Or can you watch one channel and tape 2 other ones at the same time? We keep meaning to look into this, but haven't yet.
Thanks!Chat Icon

Re: Tevo vs. Cablevision DVR

I don't know anything about Tivo so I can't compare but, we got our DVR through Cablevision and love it! Getting it was the simplest yet best decision we ever made.

oneday: You can watch one and tape two at the same time.

i never had Tivo, but i Love my DVR! So easy, and we really do watch TV 'more efficiently' Chat Icon because we'll wait about 15 minutes (for a 1 hour show), and then fast forward through all the commercials, and end at the same time Chat Icon

I just brought my old box in and exchanged it. I'm not positive, but I think you have to have IO to get one. Does anyone know?

Re: Tevo vs. Cablevision DVR

After the wedding, when we can afford it, we are SO getting DVR. I can't tell you how many times I am like "i wish i had DVR right now!" I'm saying DVR over tivo because it's one less box to deal with!

Is it easy enough for your grandparents to use???? I like getting things that you don't need to be an engineer to use.

Thanks so much. I think I want DVR now!
