DVR much better then Tivo. Tivo you need a phone line and I believe you can only tape what you are watching? You can tape 40 hours
DVR 110 hours (trust me it adds up) tape 2 shows.
thats not right - my tivo gets the signal from my wireless router, so no need for a phone line.
and you can set it up so you can watch something else while it records. and they have a 80 hour TIVO.

we got the dvr from cablevision and it was easy to hook up (easier than i heard tivo is).

I just switched for Tivo to time warner DVR and I am Never going back
it's much more user friendly, I can tape 2 shows at once
and I pay $18 for 2 when I paid $15 a month for 1 Tivo - plus the cost of TIVO

We just got rid of our tivo when we moved from our apartment to our house
TIVO sucked...there were so many variables that could make it not record.
DVR by far and away is the best invention ever...so easy and it always records

I have had both. I will say that Tivo is smarter (tapes shows that it thinks you like or that have keywords/actors that you like)
but I like the DVR better. It's cheaper (monthly costs), comes in HD, tapes multiple (which I hear tivo does now, but you have to pay for the unit) and is a bit more user friendly.
