the baby bumbleb birth story
Wed. 10-10 I had a scheduled induction after being almost 2 weeks overdo. We arrive at Huntington Hospital around 7am go through all the paperwork and I get hooked up to the monitors in labor and delivery around 8:30. They give me an enema (wish I would have known that so I wouldn't have bothered to eat) my Dr. isn't at the hospital yet but calls and instructs the nurse to start me on pitocin. It is now around 9am. My doctor arrives and examines me. I'm still 4-5cm. She breaks my water around 10:30 . Soon thereafter my contractions started getting closer like 2-3 minutes apart and I'm pleading with the nurse to get the anesthesiologist right now. He was in the middle of prepping for a c-section down the hall so I was freaking. I had some pretty scarey contractions before he got to me but got through them. I was also petrified of getting another spinal headache like the first time so I told him about it and he took his time checking for any spinal leakage as he proceeded. The epidural took most of the discomfort away. Apparently, there can sometimes be a window where the epidural doesn't cover so one side of my body was totally numb and the other side I was feeling contractions but minimal ones compared to before the epi. The epidural actually slowed down my contraction pattern so they uped the pitocin. Around 3pm I started getting feeling back in my legs and the contractions were getting more painful. Dr. checked me and told me it's time to push. After about 8 minutes and 5 pushes Clover Jayne was born into this world.
