The best thing I ever ate: local edition
I wanted to start this thread because we live in and around an amazing food area. I had to just shout it from the rooftops after my brother called me with some magic words yesterday: "Do you want anything from Briermere Farms?"
I think one of the best things I ever ate in my life is a rhubarb square from Briermere farms. I had one for the first time in 2009 after a bachelorette party/wine tour out east. Every summer since then, we've made a trip out East for fun and I've always stopped to get one. Amazing... And my brother brought me an indulgent 6 omg so good.
So what's the best local food you've ever eaten?

Re: The best thing I ever ate: local edition
DH and I don't go out much anymore since DS and buying a house. We are close to Salumi though and this is one of our spots if we want to celebrate an evening out.
They have a pork sandwich that is to die for.
There are also a few Italian restaurants I enjoy but I think that is more debatable.
We tried the Morning Rose Cafe a couple weeks ago for breakfast and thought they were really good and different.

Re: The best thing I ever ate: local edition
This is a little random but I went to Jam in Massapequa Park recently and had the best corned beef hash I have ever had! It was mostly all real corned beef, very little potato and grilled up golden brown and crispy. Delicious! They also had a nutella crepe with strawberries!
Salumi- most things are really good but I especially loved the panini with sweet sopressata, italian cheeses, sun-dried tomatoes.
Hudson Mill for the best salmon dish I ever had as well as buffalo chicken spring rolls. The salmon is sauteed with veggies, kalamata olives, pumpkin seeds and a drizzle of some kind of sauce.
One of the best drinks I've had was the Pomegranate Margarita Martini from Seasons 52 (great healthy restaurant in general).

Love peach raspberry pie from Briermere (really anything there) but now I have to try these rhubarb squares!
I also love the chop salad from george martins that was mentioned. We just went to their Strip Steak restaurant and I was so glad they had it!
Strawberries Royale from the old South Shore Restaurant in patchogue. Made table side and to die for! They also had an amazing caeser salad
Chicken parm stuffed pizza from the old bagel pizza shop in medford.
I'm not going to be able to stop thinking about this so I'm sure I'll be back with more!

Where is La Tavola? What is this life - changing donut? I need it, lol!
I want to add the marinara pizza from King Umberto's in Elmont and the Arancini from Raimo's. Sooo worth going out of your way for.

La Tavola is in Sayville. They change the menu often, not sure if they always have it. I believe its a doughnut-shaped pound cake that is then battered and deep fried so its crispy. They also change the flavors around depending on season. Last one I had was pumpkin spice with pistachios and white chocolate and cinnamon gelato. It looks like they have one with coffee crumb, coffee syrup and vanilla gelato.

Just got back from Big Daddy's.
So so good, and a little different.
DH ordered this platter of pulled pork and waffles that had a slab of bacon on it probably as thick as my thigh.
That was the best part!
