I am now convinced that some of the most outlandish downplaying of deaths, selective number picking, emphasis on anecdotal false positives with no mention of false negatives or asymptomatic cases, and anonymous "doctors" who keep telling us to look away originate on the internet by foreign bots and get picked up by well intentioned real people.
This is how this country is coming undone. Misinformation, science denial, all kinds of denial....We are being turned on one another.
It's hard to watch in real life and on the internet.
I would say that a treatment or vaccine can't come soon enough to liberate us, but dollars to donuts,, bits are being unleashed to convince the easily convinced to eschew science and progress and fear and mistrust those things enough to have this country in the throes of devastation and lockdown even longer.
Im pretty sure you posted this because of my comment but never want to quote anyone. So here is my reply:
Listen LIF Dr. Fauci, you need to relax. You seriously need a xanax. Your death and doom posts are insane. The world isnt coming to an end and this viurs isn't going anywhere. At some point you have to accept the fact that we have to learn how to live with it. Sheesh, I get being cautious and doing the necessary things but all you want to add any conversation is how we are going to die if everyone doesn't hide in their damn bunkers. That's not realistic, get out of your bubble bunker and see what the real world is. Not everyone can swim and frolic in their pool all summer. Not every kid can sit at home and NOT learn.
And all the henchmen can come out and call me mean (bah blah blah). But we skirt around her posts like they are normal and no one ever calls her out.

Obviously you do because you responded. You are the type of person who thinks they are the smartest person in the room, but, yet you open your mouth and sound arrogant and stupid.
I know the world is bigger than me, I have seen and lived it. Clearly you have NOT!

The First day of school in Georgia
FWIW, every scientist and doctor I know wants to send their kids back to school. We have frequent discussions about risk benefit ratio. No one wants business as usual, but smaller class sizes, separating kids (even if that means time with an aide and not in a classroom) have all been discussed.
Even the people closest to the situation understand the risks of not having kids in school and have a full appreciation of the need for parents to work. Obviously. We’re working parents ourselves and our kids have suffered immensely being home. They were shoved in their rooms with ipads, told “not now” hundreds of times and given dinner at 9pm. Most of those kids are in camp or daycare now and we all tell people in the same hushed, half embarrassed tone that “we had no other choice.”
I don’t like the idea that just because someone wants their child to return to school they don’t understand the severity of the situation. Anyone who has the ability to keep their kid home indefinitely and thinks that’s the only viable option is speaking from a level of privilege most do not enjoy.

I responded because you spoke to me. I have no issue with you--didn't even notice your post when I posted. Why would anyone mind if you want to move to Georgia?
You have shared a lot on here; I have not. You have engaged in creepy personal attacks when you literally know nothing about me; I have not.
You started with me--so I'll respond (without attacking you)
We are supposed to be able to discuss current events with other families respectfully. I did not notice your comment and have zero interest in engaging with you. You hardly know anything about my identity or experience. Not my occupation, education, race, socio-economic status. And because this is the internet, where weird, creepy, personal attacks are too common, I'll keep it that way.
I am flattered to be compared to Dr. Fauci in any way. He strikes me as an apolitical expert who is showing wisdom and compassion in the face of death threats and abuse. I have no henchmen. I don't think I am smarter or dumber than anyone else.
I will continue to feel free to post my opinions; I hope you feel free to post yours. But the rage and weird attacks are strange and unwelcome. I really didn't notice you on this thread and have zero interest in engaging with you like this. But you keep attacking me--so I answered.

Obviously my sharing has struck a nerve with you to even mention it. I have nothing to hide. Does it bother you that I am Latina, educated, came from nothing and doing well for myself? Does it threaten you that I understand what this pandemic is doing to the poor communities and I am giving them a voice? I sure hope not.
And Honey there is no rage. You can try to make it seem like you are being nice but your post reeks of condescension. I see right through you and I don't buy it. So yes continue to post and I will do the same. Good day!

To be (more) clear, I just meant that unlike others on here, I have not disclosed anything about myself, like my profession or education or lack thereof, that could sustain a personal attack. But there your posts are, rife with incorrect assumptions and dismissive attacks. I will debate ideas, but never go after people. It's crude.
As for what you said, it speaks for itself to get so triggered by someone who had literally nothing to say to you until you initiated an attack on them them that you use the word "Honey," while denying your rage.
I actually didn't know/remember any of that about you, but it sounds great. Truly. The way you spoke to me was not so great. You don't have to like my opinions, but I wish you'd engage without the personal attacks & "call outs," , and without the baseless assumptions about who I am and what my experiences have been. Especially in light of the fact that those who side with science believe that COVID disproportionately decimates people and communities of color--for many horrible reasons. I will not stop advocating for policies that benefit and protect communities of color, teachers, science, and anything else I want.
No sarcastic "good day" here. I really wish you well. Like you--I am done with this.

Re: The First day of school in Georgia
In interesting news, buzzfeed is reporting that two Georgia high school students were suspended from school for posting photos of their schools' crowded hallways.
While posting pictures from school may violate codes of conduct, I wonder just how many times students have been suspended for posting less whistle-blowy pictures.
There are reports that a teacher resigned last month out of concern for safety, and that mask wearing has been deemed a "personal choice."
This is really stupidity and denial run amuck. This needs to end.

You might be Latina, "educated", and doing well for yourself but you sound arrogant and uninformed. Please move to Georgia. Everyone wants (except the old white male republicans running our country) to help the poor communities and our children. We want kids to go back to school, have normalcy, allow parents to go to work, etc. etc..... but this picture is alarming. They could have implemented a better traffic system in the hallways, one side goes left, one side goes right. They could be all wearing masks if they are going to be so packed. They could not threaten students for sharing their reality. This is absolutely absurd and no one should have to be subjected to that if they don't want to. I'm sure some of those kids want to continue their education but care about getting sick. To you- it might not be a concern but some people do care more than you and can't just brush it off. So they should be denied the same rights you are fighting for? Get off your high horse. Being a well off latina doesn't earn you anything special. I'm sorry you have to convince yourself your rags to riches story is worth patting yourself on the back and helping you to feel entitled to your tiny opinions but don't go after other people who didn't even address you personally.

Funny how, Seaside and I went back and forth and it ended. But here comes Henchman #1 to bring it back up. Right on time!
I mentioned that because the poster had to mention I shared so much. But Ofcourse you removed that part of the quote from the poster. Had nothing to do with the pandemic or the school in Georgia. Reading is fukn truly fundamental. Try it some time. I don’t need anyone to pat me on the back, I was listing what I have shared and wondering what the hell her comment was about. People like you are scared of my directness and the thought of a whole other world outside of what you have in your head. What’s the word.. close minded. You can think I’m arrogant or whatever bs label you want to give me. I’m just direct and not full of sh!t. And there sometimes is a cultural difference when you give advice or believe in something ex) the Goya thread or when I say minorities will suffer and someone retorts not all minorities are poor. Like no sh!t. Which is why I mention I’m Latina on here. It’s funny how this bothers you that I’m proud of it.
Keep your kid home all you want but not every family can do that. Why does it bother you so damn much. Maybe you should try to get off your high horse as well. I always said they should offer remote to parents as well. So just like I want my son to go full time, It doesn’t bother me if there is another option for the other half. Learn how to read and stop making stupid assumptions.
It’s crazy how the people who want to keep their kids home are so threatened by those who are ready to move on and want their kids to go full time. Get the fuk over it already.

You are the one not reading. I didn't say I want to keep my child home. Why should you be able to send your kids to school and people who don't think like you have to remotely learn or have a separate plan? All students should be able to go back to school safely, and that was not happening in said photos. You are the one who needs to stop making stupid assumptions. I don't care that you have a loud mouth. I'm not scared of you. Wash your mouth out with soap, you sound like a disgusting person in need of a good cleaning.

You can call it being direct if you want but what it really is is you jumping down peoples' throats with outsized reactions to whatever you are responding to. Because this isn't the first time you've done it.
When you mention the equity concerns (which I agree with) you are only looking at one piece of it because those same equity concerns are going to apply to the spread itself for a whole host of reasons. So there is more than just the academic part which again is totally valid.
We're opening. He just announced it. Districts have to be in compliance but otherwise we all have the green light. It's going to be a sh!tshow but this is as good as it's going to get for pro opening people unless they want to move out of state.

This needs to end.[/QUOTE
Suspension reversed.

I wouldn't doubt that is the reason why the suspension was reversed. They have probably never suspended another student for it. Did you read the few articles about entire schools having to go virtual because multiple staff and students were found to either be positive or exposed to someone who was positive? Will be interesting to see how the school year goes.

Omg you don’t know how to read, I said they should offer remote to parents . I never said people who want their kids to go to school should be forced to go remote so I can send my kid to school. Please show me where I wrote that. My joke about living in Georgia is because it seems like there is full time school and I wish my son could have that. It wasn’t that deep.
So cleaning my mouth with soap is going to make me a better human? I didn’t know that was how it worked. Thanks mom.

She's not a henchman. Normal adults don't interact as "henchmen." She's a bright, independent woman who I am not fortunate enough to know IRL.
And what "ended" should never have started. That was weird & totally unprovoked. Direct is one thing. Attacking people with lies and baseless accusations and vitriol....is another, and speaks for you and to you.
And I mentioned that the person making the personal attacks--telling everyone on here what I supposedly think, feel, have, and enjoy (all unfounded), has, like most others, been sharing things on here for years, and even if I disagree with her, I make no assumptions about her and cast no aspersions on her (I actually didn't notice her on the thread and couldn't recall much more about her than seeing her name around a lot).
Whereas I have shared virtually nothing, and it was kind of comical to have all kinds of motives, experiences (or lack thereof), and other creepy, baseless personal attacks hurled at me.
I don't care enough to pursue it, but lots of boards wouldn't tolerate this toxicity. This doesn't seem like the kind of board where people "come for" each other. It's funny that I was called "Fauci," when most people are appalled at how he has been harassed by people who are basically blaming him for the fact that they can't handle reality.

Yes--absolutely right. It seemed retaliatory and the school must have seen it. I am seeing more and more about teachers who are scared for their lives and feels inadequately equipped to go back.
I saw those articles you mentioned, and I have been hearing about teachers banding together preemptively to put pressure on districts that aren't, in their opinions, ready. Lots are taking leave or asking for accommodations due to disabilities so that they can teach virtually Lots more are leaving the profession. They are educated, talented, and there are many more lucrative things they could have been doing, but they chose to teach, earn much less, take the disrespect, buy their students' and classrooms' supplies out of pocket....but this is too much. And our education system will be much worse off for it.
ETA: I also think it didn't have to be this bad. If governments, districts, and people had acted this summer to get the things that each school needed, whether it be air filters, PPE, structural changes, training and plans, or any combo, AND if people had worn frigging masks and not whined and ignored rules and guidelines, AND if certain governments had not reopened prematurely, we would be in a much different place, with more schools truly ready to reopen, and these professionals wouldn't be so terrified.
Professional athletes are even refusing to play so as not to jeopardize the health and safety of themselves or any family members.

Wait, is this post about Sash? Why not just quote her?? And regarding to ur last post, LIF is like no other forum. I’ve been around for a while (longer than ‘15) and pretty much every thing goes in this forum.

Because she never does.. look at all the past threads. She will respond but not have the balls to quote the person. She will comment on previous posts but hardly ever quotes It. This is the second example on here. This is why I am sure her other response right below mine was to me. But she won’t ever admit it. It’s all crap. She just wants to make it seem like I went after her for no reason.
She just couldn’t take the fact that I didn’t go on “we are all going to die rant because of one picture in Georgia and posted a joke”.

She’s not a henchman but yet I know her and she’s my friend... do you see the contradiction here? And obviously when I used the word henchman it was sarcasm. It’s obvious I meant “your little buddies” will come to defend you, in which, they did. So Thank you for confirming my point.
I called you Fauci because of all your posts on science and all your “facts” you put on here about the pandemic. Like everything you say is right, hence, the term LIF Fauci. I made a joke because you act like the LIF Science expert. It was towards you not Dr. Fauci. So I am not sure what your point is on the way he was treated and what it has to do with anything I said. Again this is another clear point of what’s wrong with this world. Everyone has to be on one side all the way. I compare you to Fauci and now I must clearly hate him.
