The great cupcake adventure.... chapter 2!
So, my next cupcake adventure was to make cupcakes for one of the daycare teacher's Godson. She originally told me that it didn't matter what they looked like. Then the day I was going to make them, she asked if I could do Elmo.
I said sure, but left wondering "how the heck am I going to make Elmo cupcakes?" 
I have to admit, I was pretty proud of these! Made them last night!  2nd customer in my fundraising for Sophia's Cure!

Tara, I really just use my good friend "google"!  I look for images online and then take little bits from each of them that I like. I was originally going to frost them orange and make Elmo's head in red chocolate, but then for some reason I had technical challenges with the melted chocolate and had to figure something else out. I'm really happy with the way they came out. I'm not really very artistic so being able to pull this off was nice for me!
I'm kinda learning as I go!

If I lived on LI, I probably would have expanded my offer to the wonderful ladies of LIF. But I live in NJ so that would make it difficult.

The cupcakes and the frosting are made from scratch. I made a quick frosting with butter, confectioner sugar, milk and vanilla, then separated it and tinted some red and some orange. Made little piping bags with parchment paper to pipe the white eyes and the orange nose. The black is the only part that I didn't make from scratch. It was a tube of black Wilton's decorating icing that I put a very thin tip on.
The cupcake plate is actually part of a carrier my parent's got me one year for Mother's Day. It's a 2 tier carrier that can hold 24 cupcakes! Not sure where my mom got it... I'll ask!

these are amazing! my DD would go crazy for them! I will have to make them for her bday but I am sure they wont come out half as good as yours!
