The highlight of Barnes and Noble storytime was by far...
When the lady they hired today to sing holiday songs for all the kids went into a whole spiel on celebrating Hannukah (after, dressed in Christmas garb, sang Jingle bells, Frosty the snowman, etc)
she pulled out a grandma puppet, a Grandpa puppet, an Aunt Shirley puppet who was cooking all day...
Kids volunteered to hold the puppets as they geared up to sing a Hannukah tune...
I was getting pretty stoked myself - what will it be? Dreidel Dreidel? Oh Hannukah Oh Hannukah?
Nope - it was neither.
Apparently, "Feliz Navidad" must have struck her as a Hannukah tune....
Maybe because it wasn't in English????

Spain was once very Jewish but
1. not after the Inquisition and
2. Navidad?... hellooooooo.... does it sound like Nativity lady?
Oh, if I was there I would not have been able to contain myself. I would be darting to the history section, ripping books off the wall about and throwing them in her lap to read.
As a teacher of World History and a mommy to Ji-rish kids I would have had to have said something.

I kept thinking of her all day, and was cracking up. My DH was laughing too when I told him. She definitely was an eccentric one, very entertaining.
