The nastiest smell.... Sorry in advance of TMI.....
I have been working for a podiatrist for many many years. The nastiest smell I have ever smelled was today, I have never ever ever smelled feet so bad that it wafted out into the waiting room. One poor old lady was in there coughing and gagging.... I thought I was going to puke right then and there. Then my boss calls me in to assist him, I must have been green! Is it me, or am I just paronid not to have body smells, don't people smell themselves?! Do people not bathe???? YUCK!

I would think they would!!!!! We do not use whirlpool, it is not too safe these days with AIDS etc.
I know when I go to the doctor, sick or not so sick, I make sure my whole body is washed and groomed.

how can you get aids by being in a whirlpool?
Not a regular whirlpool, that is maintained .... a whirlpool that you put your feet in, unless it is properly disinfected with bleach after every person, it is not good. My boss is on the cautious side and does not use it. I am so paranoid when I get a pedicure, I make sure it is cleaned with bleach right in front of me before my feet are put in there.
Yes the remembrance of that smell is just making me dry heave too. I understand feet can smell but this was just G-d awful. I would at least take an alcohol wipe before hand , or put some powder in my shoes.
They make a great powder for smelly feet called " On Your Toes" and it is supposed to work wonders. This man would not have anything to do with it.He is coming back on a day I am there too. I think I am going to be sick right now thinking of the smell.

not starting a fight or anything just very curious. I still dont get it. How can you become infected from that.
You can only get aids blood-to-blood or sexual contact with someone who has the virus. HIV can also be spread from a mother with HIV to her baby during pregnancy or through breast feeding. The body fluids that transmit HIV are blood, semen, vaginal fluids, breast milk and other body fluids containing blood. The principal ways that people become infected with HIV are through: •
Sharing needles and syringes with someone who has the virus.
Having sex -- vaginal, oral or anal -- with someone who has the virus.
A baby’s exposure to his or her HIV-positive mother during pregnancy or birth or through breast feeding.
someone with aids can bleed and i can stop the bleeding with my hand and i wouldnt come contact with the virus unless i had an open wound, hence blood to blood.
am i missing something that i need to know?

In a foot doctors office someone could have an open wound on there foot, and if it is put in a whirlpool, there might be body fluids that leak out of the wound, the person can have AIDS, you never know.... - Ex- foot ulcers, etc. That is how someone can get AIDS. Unless it is cleaned properly, there is risk of exposure. So, my boss even though he sterilizes EVERYTHING in a autoclave will not have the patients use the whirlpool that foot doctors used to use,he will not use a whirlpool on any patients no matter what. HTH and hope it clarifies it for you.
A regular whirlpool is maintained at a pool with chemicals etc. It is different.
