The one millionth question about starting cereal -

My ped is telling me two tsps twice a day? AM and PM? I thought from reading on here most people do it only once a day?

I want to start today - I am going to give them their 9 am bottle and then around 10 try the cereal. Then they get bottles again around noon, 3pm and last bottle at 6pm. Should I give them cereal again later? If so, when?

He said after doing cereal a few weeks, I should add the veg/fruit at lunchtime, so I guess after the 12pm bottle. Just not sure about cereal twice a day right now - can you share what you did? TIA!

I think for the first couple of days, I only did it in the morning, but before the first week was up, she had it twice a day. Do whatever YOU feel comfortable with. If you want to start out once a day, do that, it's fine.

My pediatrician told me to do cereal twice a day and fruit with breakfast. I feed him his bottle when we wakes up and about an hour later after he wakes from his first nap I give him the cereal and fruit. In the evenning I give him (we I used to -- he's eating meat now) cereal and veggie at six, bottle at seven, bath after and then bed at 8ish

When we started, we started with 1 tbsp mixed with formula once a day. Then we started with a fruit or veggie in the evening (1/2 tub/jar). Now, he gets 2 tbsp mixed with a 1/2 tub/jar of fruit and some formula to thin it out at either 10am or 2pm (depending on naps). In the evening, we give him 1 jar/tub of veggie.

My ped had the same reccomendation. I did it once a day at first...It was hard to get in a groove with the two of them...I did once a day for a while, then finally upped it to twice a day.

Good luck!

Re: The one millionth question about starting cereal -

Thanks ladies - I am going to do once a day for a few days and then bump it up to twice a day. Then if I do veg/fruit at lunch it just seems like they will be eating all day long, you know? Like now they have bottles at 6, 9, 12, 3 and 6. If I am adding three meals of solids then that's eating 8 times a day Chat Icon . When are they going to nap? Chat Icon
