Well, the Belt is only about 15 mins one way, and the LIE is 20 minutes the other way. There is the lovely Van Wyck though, just a short 10 minutes away.
oy, the VWE or the Belt....which one to take at rush hour!

Re: The Ozone Park Debate
one of the downfalls of late night posting. I missed this thread.
I am now homesick. I miss my home of Ozone Park Hanging out on the stoop, the courtyard of 63 before they built that addition, going to Adams, cutting class, going to it's my mothers place too for ices, the pizza and so much more. Pizza Paradiso used to be my favorite. Plus it didnt hurt when I knew the owner. The he sold it and its not the same.
Oh the good times. good good times

How many of you Ozone Park ladies went to John Adams... It seems like I'm the only one that didn't
My mom went to John Adams. Seems she is running into people all over the place and it turns out they are originally from Queens and went to Adams. It is pretty cool.

I loved walking gym. I was in co-op and took walking gym and never went. The teacher (I think it was Tappen when I was taking it) had a student do the attendance and I would tell him "why are you marking me absent, I'm here and last week I was here too. I am in co-op so you cant mark me out" and the kid would correct it for both my actual real school week and my work week showing I was really there and I'd leave when I was suppose to be in class.

LOL. I had Tappen for Gymnastics! The most fun was bowling gym though. Now that was a gym class! One thing I remember about walking gym was when you got to the other side of the track, there were bleachers set up with a plastic backing on the fence, so when you got to that part of the track, we would just sit behind the fence so the teacher couldn't see us! LOL. The best though, was freshman year....weightlifting gym! LOL. What ever happened to good ol regular gym? That class was co-ed though

I had Tappen for volleyball. I was a bad team player, I neve showed up for games It was a conflict of interest, I was also a cheerleader and the football team needed me to rah rah them on.
Bowling gym I wanted to do that but having to be at Americana or whatever it's called now at 7am was not my thing.
Senior year was the best for me. School one week and work one week
Where's Syliblonde??? I have a Dom Ross update for her....Jeanine...my mom ran into his mom in the nail salon

I was a cheerleader too! Ross left and we couldn't get anyone else to "coach" LOL. It started dying down and by Junior year and we tried to recruit new girls before graduation but they just did not like the old, very old cheers. LOL. I also used to do "service" for Ross to get service credit. It consisted of skipping luch and hanging in his office/closet. Did you do an internship your senior year? Wait, you know Jeanine too? LOL. I graduated with her. Were you in the same graduating class?

I heard about him leaving and how no one wanted to coach. if you want to call it coaching. OMG those cheers were incredably old. I want to know who the heck was still cheering "we're too hot to handle" or "ooh shawalla walla ooh". I think more then half the squad was bigger then him.
I did service in the library for 2 years, then the deans office for 1 year and senior year I pretty much did my own service
I did the co-op program where I went to work one week and school one week. It was like an internship but it was paid.
Jeanine lived a few blocks from me. I actually graduate in 97. Dom Ross lives in Middle Village, has a girlfriend and a 2 yr old son. The thought alone of him reproducing honestly grosses me out. He is a maintance man or something in Whitestone. Hasnt spoken to his mother since March. Mrs. Ross blames the girlfriend.
Though I do have my pom poms at work. Their was a joke in the office when I was supervisor and being a cheerleader for my team. So I brought my pom poms in and just leave them at my desk. Every once in a while I get up and do a little cheer

HAAAA....I guess the cheers never changed. We made up one more before the team dissolved but it was pretty much for nothing. LOL. Remember this one? Rock, Rock steady! LOL. Or this one "hey adams! yeah! We're calling on you. We're gonna rock rock booty rock, rock rock booty rock, shake shake booty shake, shake shake booty shake. LMAO. It was so much fun though. I have to admit that my parents thought that it was a little creppy that a thirty something "little" guy was coaching the team. Its not like he was a cheerleader, more of just a supervisor. i still have my pom poms too I did an intership the first semester of senior year where I worked everyday for credit. Then I finished out the rest of 12th grade attending regular classes. It was such a fun experience. I came back once a month to catch up on everything, and they would make us go into classes and talk about the program. I can't believe Ross has a kid! VERY scary thought indeed! LOL. I went to JHS with his brother Jerry and from what I know, his mom worked at every school that Jerry attended. LOL

booty rock....I liked the one that had my back is aching my shoes too tight, my booty shakes from left to right, and left and right, and left right left....Oh those cheers were so lame but it was good times. I had fun. My parents too were really creeped out by him "coaching". At the time he was in his mid 20's (he's only 5 years older then me. He went to school with my neighbor) and all of us in our teens. It was a scandal waiting to happen. I used to really think he and one of the girls had a thing going on
The internship sounds fun. The one great thing about only going to school one week and work one week was the week I was in school my friend and I used to forge notes that we were in the guidance counslers office preparing for our college education. I missed an entire year of typing because I was in "the guidance office" signed scribble scribble. One time I even put a teachers name that was no longer there for my hall pass
Jerry was always at practice. Dom tried to get him to be a "spotter" and Jerry wouldnt do it. He just liked to hang around. He was a strange little person.
