The positive out come of COVID
There are many negatives to this illness, for me the positives are
People standing away from me when in the store and on line. I can't take it when ignore personal space and cram their items on the belt....
People staying off the roads is giving mother nature, the air we breath, wildlife and so much more a break
more thoughts to come........

The positive out come of COVID
At the beginning of the shutdown, I went for a walk in my neighborhood and I saw a few dads biking or playing ball with their kids. It was a weekday afternoon. I bet most men are at work at that time in normal days, so it must be nice for the kids to hang out with dad. I guess that's one positive.

Re: The positive out come of COVID
Totally agree about the roads. I haven't had road rage at all.
I saved about 2,000 miles on my car with being at home for these 2 months. and saved about $350+ in gas.
I used to get my nails done every 2 weeks. I probably won't go back. I had been going for 20 years or more and just think what a waste. I now have my natural nails back and they look great.
When i saw my coworkers, I was actually glad to see them instead of my eye rolling in my head.

What I will love is the social distancing on the beach. I cannot stand when people sit right on top of me at the beach. One year I started bringing ear plugs so I could relax and read in peace because all i heard were people's conversations as that sat 1 foot from me. I hope they enforce it!

The positive out come of COVID
I think the positives are saving money on things we normally spend on and learning to be content with what you have and who you are with. I find myself content with being home and with my family, not feeling the need to “fill my day” every day with something fun and I think it’s impressed on my kids, they used to be ready to go somewhere or buy something everyday. Now we just spend time creating and playing and for my husband, he’s working from home still since 3/13 and it’s valuable time with the kids as he didn’t have a paternity leave and the kids LOVE being with him

The positive out come of COVID
The general slower pace of life has been really nice - when I have my son I’m not having to scramble to get off work on time to run to pick him up from after school so I can run to get him to tennis lessons, then scramble to get dinner and homework done before bed.
I get to sleep in later - not having to wake up at 5:30 to exercise, then rush everyone through breakfast so I can get out the door in time to drive my son to school and make it to work by 8am.

Re: The positive out come of COVID
I will say the one positive thing that has come out of this- I have never spent this much time with my children since they've been born. I've always worked full time so the longest I've spent with them was the 12 weeks of maternity leave. It has been nice just having that time with them (although yes sometimes I want to rip my hair out). My only worry now is my almost 5 year old DD has gotten so attached to me, I wonder how she will be when I have to go back to work.
The other potential good thing that may come out of this for me- I am praying that now that my supervisor can see that our work can be done online, that they will be more open to letting us work from home a few days a week. Previously every time I asked I got shut down.

The positive out come of COVID
We have family dinner every night. My husband works ridiculous hours and that would only happen on weekends. My son is also trying new foods because I’m not defaulting to quick dinners because I have to run him around to extra-curriculars during the week.

Re: The positive out come of COVID
The slower pace of life. No more being late to everything and arriving harried and crazy. I do NOT miss my insane morning schedule at all.
I also like that the Irish good bye has come into style. I have been training for this for years!
And honestly, I love the birthday parades. I'm out, partying and back home in 15 minutes! I say we keep this!
Also, my DH, my SD and 3 kids' birthdays fall in a 8 week period of time. My mother has ingrained in me that everyone needs a separate party. May and June are VERY expensive months for me with party after party. And we invite the whole freaking family which can be 50+ people. This year...not so much! Yippee!

You just leave and don't have to hug and kiss everyone. You sneak out.

Oh I like that too. Less obligatory physical contact.

Re: The positive out come of COVID
I love that I get this summer with my kids. Yes, working from home is incredibly difficult, and my son with special needs is missing a LOT with his program closed, but my other two were ambivalent about camp (our camp was pretty barebones - not like a Buckley or anything like that) and they HATED camp aftercare and they were always the last ones there :(. I put a ton of work into the yard - a small intex pool, a slide, and a tire swing and we really have the most delightful days outside. I’m glad I got this last, bonus, special summer with this. Definitely a positive that came out of covid, and a privilege that not everyone has.

The positive out come of COVID
I’ve saved a lot of money by not running to stores at lunch, running to Starbucks, spending money on needless things. As well as not getting my biweekly gel manicure and going out to dinner all the time.
Makes me realize that I can, and probably will continue to, not do a lot of these things now that I’ve kind of broken some habits. I wonder if nail salons, coffee shops etc will permanently lose customers because people realize they can live without this stuff.
Edited because freakin auto correct

Definitely this and I've also heard handshakes will be a thing of the past. I hate touching people's hands.

No school shootings
I was about to say!
I don't think I've heard of any mass shootings since everything went down and there used to be a new shooting weekly practically. Mass shooters seem to be taking covid seriously (a little light-hearted humor to lighten the somber mood of the state of this country)

Re: The positive out come of COVID
Wasn't there a Seinfeld episode where Jerry got annoyed that everyone in his building started this thing where they had to kiss each other hello when they saw each other? He decided to not participate in it and they blacklisted him in the building and nobody would speak to him? He would LOVE this new normal.

109 mass shootings in the US this year with 125 killed and over 407 injured. While I'm sure that number is way down from previous years, I think the news just hasn't been reporting on them as much.

Irish goodbyes sound amazing. I hope it becomes a thing across the board. I'm not a fan of the drawn out Italian goodbye. Omg even on the phone good byes are drawn out and painful lol. I must have some Irish blood.
