I pay around £1.86 for 4 pints of Organic Milk, thats $3.90.
But the kid loves it...

No, but there are skyrocketing gas costs, which increases the price of everything.

TARGET has the cheapest milk. I paid $3.09 yesterday. It was much more in the supermarkets.

$5 a gallon for cow's milk is cheap compared to soy milk! My DS has a milk allergy and I pay anywhere from $6-10 a gallon for soy milk depending on if I can get it on sale.
