this is why i think there should be designated talking cars. if you use your commute to gossip or talk on your phone- use those cars. I know the majority of peps want to sleep, so it should be 2 cars quiet, 1 car talking, and so on.
Yes! They need to follow the Acela's lead on this and have a "quiet car".

I'd rather sit next to them and be entertained than riding late at night and all the drunk LI guidos and 'like whatever...' girls
I recently taped a chick on my camera phone who was talking about 'this guy she was like hooking up with right... and took too long to reply to her texts so she didn;t know, you know? Like they were so *whatever* but she doesnt understand why like he doesnt call her right back yanno?'

I had a preacher come up to me and ask to bless my baby (when i was pregnant). He put his hand on my belly and said some prayers
it was actually very touching...
but who knows if he was really a weirdo or not.

last time I rode out east on the LIRR during rush hour, this guy was on the train with his posse of chicks.
they were all laughing and yucking it up...talking about how he hides his internet porn collection from his wife on his laptop. the women were flirting and he was lapping it up like a puppy. it was so sad and funny watching them get off on each other as they went back to their little lives  and sad too.
I would go NUTS on a b1tch if she was talking to my husband about porn. NUTS. and then I'd rip out my husbands tongue and whip him with it. but I am a jealous beyotch.

When we go out for drinks in the city I always laugh when we come back on the LIRR and watch all the drunk 17 year olds. We usually try to take the 4AM, hoping it's a little less full than the 2AM, but sometimes it doesn't work out that way.
On New Years we had some crazies... a couple fights, passed out people, some sluts, etc. It was really entertaining until I saw a knife hanging out top of one of the fighters pants. We decided to change cars. I couldnt get blood on my New Years outfit.

That just made me LOL.
I hate the Yentas too. Luckily I always tend to have "my car" where I sit by all the same people, so it's pretty quiet. Once in awhile though if I change cars or what not I get the Yentas............and it's always when I am in the midst of a really good book.
