Re: Theme for Boy's First Birthday?
He LOVES LOVES LOVES the monkey mail from disney channel. But they have NOTHING of this anywhere, not even stuffed animals.
He does really like winnie the pooh and mickey mouse clubhouse as well.
I just wasn't sure if we were going to do sports theme, or show theme

Re: Theme for Boy's First Birthday?
I did a trucks theme. I used big constructions vehicles for centerpieces with a few balloons and assorted candy all around. We did not do a themed invite because DH didn't want every gift to reflect the "theme". I did number 1 invites.

Re: Theme for Boy's First Birthday?
My SIL had an Elmo theme for her DS' first. They got the supplies from Birthdayexpress.com, including the party favors. She got Carvel to put an Elmo on an ice cream cake.

Re: Theme for Boy's First Birthday?
we did our DS' first bday at a chinese restaurant. so we decided to do a chinese junk boat theme. i made junkboats almost everywhere. i used martha stewart's mayflower template and drew out teh shape of a sail (that looked like a junkboat's sail). everything was handmade which helped cut costs down. using construction paper, i cut out shapes of junk boats and pasted them onto seating cards, gift bags and cake stand. i used poster board from staples and cardstock for the sail for the centerpieces. filled the centerpieces with goldfish crackers. it looked very nice throughout, i must say ;)
for the cakestand, i bought foam blocks from a local hardware store (nearly 70% cheaper than getting it from craft shops) and built a 3 tiered cake. fyi: i had cupcakes instead of a sheet cake.
i originally wanted a circus theme. but the restaurant (chinatown brasserie) was very nicely decorated that i thought the circus theme would clutter things.
we had such a great time!
