This is so absolutely heart wrenching. Please let me know how I can help. Has an account been set up for donations?

there is a poster here who is Seaford HS faculty, ill forward this to her
Thanks for that..I appreciate it. I know the HS is aware of everything, they have taken over some of the costs for the 17 year old (cap and gown fees, yearbook etc..) which was wonderful.
My friend in the midst of this whole thing drove to his HS and met w/a counselor there for him...
Did i mention how awesome of a person she is???
The school community is aware of the situation. I can only say so much because it is my understanding that the 17 year old is uncomfortable with drawing attention to his family's situation. He is a student in one of my classes. The social workers, guidance counselors and administration are doing what they can. I can't go into detail due to confidentiality that I am held to. Some of what was mentioned about fees etc. is true, other fees have been "taken care of".
As a school we had no idea until the older sister met with the social worker. The 17 year old did not approach any adults in the community and he had very regular attendance, handed in assignments on-time, was doing very well on tests, etc. so it is a very delicate situation. A monetary collection amongst the faculty was donated to the family. I am unsure about any other fundraising efforts.
I cannot fathom what this family is going through. I know we are doing all we can given the communication the social worker is having through the older sister.
I'm sure they would appreciate any further assistance the community could give them. And thank you for doing anything you can.
To be honest, when I opened this link I wasn't even sure which current tragedy this was. We have had so, so many sad events this year. Social service and the guidance dept are completely overwhelmed this year. I have never seen a year like this in 17 years of teaching
my mom was over last night, we telling me about another the 31 year old alumni i cannot imagine. life can be so cruel
