Thinking of IVF number 2 now.. Have questions and need Opinions

So I cried and got it out often system. I can't have a pity party. I just Began this journey- so many have been going through this longer than me.

My question is I wanna set up
A consult and start another cycle w next period. Should I do that? Or Give my body a rest from meds for a month,

I'm def contacting Andy Kaplan and going to start acupunture.

Also how soon does period come after you get a negative and you stop meds??

I got my period 3 days after I stopped progesterone. TMI - but it was a VERY heavy period for the first 1-2 days. I was changing my regular tampon like every 60-90 minutes for the first few hours.

You can start another cycle if you have no cysts. Some clinics though require you to wait a cycle.

When you get your period can vary, for some people it takes longer for the levels to come down... hopefully within the week though. I LOVE Andy so seeing him is a great decision.

As far as whether to start right up or give your body a break... All I'll say is, I never took a break until we were on track to do surrogacy and it was the cycle after my break that I GOT and STAYED pregnant. So.. while I definitely know how hard it is to take a break and I would never have suggested this in the past, it may be worth your while to take at least a cycle off - but that's such a personal decision and so hard to do when you're under the time crunch called impatience!

What I would NOT do is do too many cycles in a row without stopping. I cycled for YEARS back to back. Two IVFs in a row isn't bad at all. I'm so sorry you gave to be thinking about this now and that the cycle you just completed didn't give you the baby you want so much. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thanks for the advice. I already have a consult wh Trivax next Thursday. Just wanna ask him few questions- fresh vs frozen For next cycle, what will be different next cycle etc.
I think I will give my body a rest this month- with back to school etc September is a nightmare. Start up acupuncture etc. and then maybe October start another one. I follow your story and know how much you have been through. That's why I can't allow myself to be upset for too long. ;)

Thinking of IVF number 2 now.. Have questions and need Opinions

We did our first ivf June 2012 - bfn. I cried and gave myself time to be miserable. Then I became even more determined although still had doubts it would ever work. I changed acupuncturists and that july we went to Paris and south of France. I drank and enjoyed myself. Then end of August it was time to start ivf number 2. This time around I was put on metformin to increase egg quality and dh was put on Clomid to increase sperm quality. We were unexplained but the quality of our embryos could have been improved. I was much more relaxed the second time around. I took rescue remedy to calm me and I was given a Valium this time around for the transfer. With that and the better quality embryos I am now holding my 7 week old daughter. Best of luck. It can and will work.

Thanks everyone. The responses and words of wisdom mean a lot. I trust Dr. Trivax so next week I will be armed with a bunch of questions thanks to all of you and heading in for a post consult before the madness of school starts. Right now I'm going to pour myself a glass of wine and relax... Hey it's 5 'o'clock somewhere!! ;)

Hey your first failed IVF or your 4th, etc. , it all stinks!!! One thing I can tell you is that when it does work, you realize how much it was worth the ride, however heinous it may be. Chat Icon Chat Icon

It really depends on how you feel. I cycled right away after my fresh failed and it worked. For some ppl fet's are better with less stims. Do you want to cycle right away? I knew I didn't want a break

I don't want a break but I know my limits. With going back to school September is the worst month for me. So much stress work back to school night. Don't want the added pressure of morning appts etc. only good thing is principal knows and has been incredible with this and I have a second teacher in the room this year so ill be able to do am appts woot worrying if I'm gonna be late.

I might do a FET. Here's my issue with that. I froze 5 embryos last year. Have one ovary left. Lost one to benign ovarian tumor. The other ovary had a tumor so I needed to have surgery to remove that. I froze in case I lost that ovary too.

I didn't thanks to my amazing gyno and surgeon. Now I have one ovary left that is functioning. Low AMH and not producing much but its producing. So my question is do I use some of my frozen or save them and continue to do fresh since this ovary is still functioning. That's what I'm grappling with now.
