I believe in innocent until proven guilty, but as I see all of the evidence leaked to the media, I'd be lying if I didn't have a thought one way or another. However, I think I can keep an open mind as the facts are presented.

I agree with this.
I know that if I was on a jury I would take it very seriously and ONLY come to a concliusion based on the facts presented to me at the trial. Or at least I would hope so.

this case is different for me, I NORMALLY am all about "innocent until proven guilty" but in this case I am 100% sure she killed her, period, not a doubt in my mind.
The way she was acting, the things she said convinced me that she was involved

Yes, I believe strongly in "innocent until proven guilty," and I also believe that "beyond a reasonable doubt" is a very heavy burden. The media is very powerful in influencing public opinion. Very few cases are open and shut to me. I would be a huge hypocrite if I concluded that every defendant is guilty after I was so adamant about Marty Tankleff's innocence. I try to see all sides. I think Casey Anthony is guilty but I hope to see more evidence before a conviction.

Re: this Casey Anthony post has me thinking......
Its very easy for us all to say that we definitely know she's guilty, and pass our own judgment on what should happen to her. However, the only people that truly can do that are the members of the jury that will hear the case. They're the ones who will hear all the facts and will be told the criteria that needs to be met (according to the law) in order for her to be found guilty of any charges. And in the eyes of the law - she is innocent until proven guilty, and she has to be. The prosecution better have all their facts straight and have an airtight case so that it can be proved beyond a reasonable doubt, and the jury can find her guilty.
i do the same thing as most people - hear some 'facts' on the news, perhaps more from friends and then we spend time discussing how horrible the person is, what should happen to them etc. - its human nature to discuss things like that. However, none of us are really truly in a position to enact any sort of retribution, so its all fairly harmless. What really counts is what happens in the trial.

I agree with this. I also think it is a big problem that the media gets so involved and leaks evidence because it makes it very difficult for anyone to get a fair trial.

Re: this Casey Anthony post has me thinking......
Generally, I believe in "innocent until proven guilty."
However, having served on jury duty in federal court I realized that:
1.) Police and law enforcement often overstep their bounds. I know they are in the heat of the moment and they are probably doing the best they can, but I heard 2 police officers give testimony that was somewhat hard to believe because I think they were covering their tracks for not following standard procedure. In this case, I don't think the cops were wrong, but some of the things they said made others on the jury question their honesty and integrity because of it.
2.) Many pieces of evidence may never make it into the trial. This was a case that involved a violation of civil rights. There was a criminal trial before this one, where the defendant was acquitted. The attorney for the PD was trying to ask questions or bring up certain items from that trial that were not allowed. From what I heard, and a very short conversation I had in the jury room afterwards with one of the attorneys, I assume that these pieces of info would have questioned the innocence of the person in the original case, so it was not allowed since it would be prejudicial. I always thought OJ was guilty but after doing jury duty, I sort of understood how he got acquitted.

I believe in innocent until proven guilty. I take the "proof" offered on shows like Nancy Grace with a grain of salt. I try not to convict and hang somebody on circumstantial stuff. Once the trial starts and hard evidence is presented, then I can make an informed decision.
