What does everyone think of this dress and these flats? I plan on wearing the outfit to our holiday party which is a lot of standing and mingling. DH told me the dress would look better with high heels and I know that but I would like some comfort too.

Also, I'm a little bit on the tall side so the dress is a little shorter on me in the back than it is on the model. So I kinda thought that the flats made it a bit more conservative and work appropriate...whereas heels would be more sexy.

High heels would look better than flats with that dress. But if I am going for comfort, I would totally get these shoes. I think they do look dressy since they are shiny and will look fine with that dress.

Re: This dress with these shoes..

I honestly would never wear flats with a fancier dress like that. (But I would never wear flats period- so you might not be able to go by me)
Plus, flats aren't always comfy for standing on your feet all night- they really offer no support.
I'd go for a heel- but nothing too high if you are concerned about comfort.

I agree with the other girls- I would not wear flats with a dress like that.

Re: This dress with these shoes..

I think a medium heel would be a good compromise. No on the flats.

No sorry not at all. I would do a kitten heel then. But flats do not work with that dress.

I wouldn't wear flats. As someone suggested, maybe a medium heel would look good with the dress.

Love the dress but a big nay on those shoes. You need at least a kitten heel with a dress like thatChat Icon

If I didn't want to wear regular heels, (but I always do) then this was what I was thinking, too

If you HAVE to do flats, I'd do either a very simple black flat or nude, but NOT those. They almost look like little kid mary janes, and I think the strap will really cut off your leg line.

Re: This dress with these shoes..

OK so I'm thinking of wearing a low heel and keeping the flats for the "after party." I work in Manhattan so I have to commute to work first, then walk to the party which is 10 blocks away. I'm thinking of changing into heels at the party. There is usually an after party at a nearby bar...at that point, I can change back into the flats if I can't take it anymore.

What color stocking with an all black dress and black shoes? I like black stockings but should I do nude instead?

No stockings. And if you feel you have to def go black. Nude should not be even be sold ever.

For stockings I would do tights with a subtle pattern, like this

herringbone tights

Ditto. I normally don't like stockings, but I am sorry, Dec in NYC is freezing and I can't run around bare legged like it's July.
Something like this would be perfect. Love it actually.

I CANNOT be bare legged. On top of it being December, the location is practically the most southern point of Manhattan. It's extra freezing due to the water.

Yes- you need stockings. Go with something patterned like what was posted. I think that would look great and not at all old lady pantyhose-ish!

I love flats but not with this dress! If you can't wear heels, perhaps a more sophisticated style of a flat shoe would look better!

Oh yes! I know this area and it's almost 10 degrees colder by the water or anywhere close to it. I love those tights... and flats to walk to the party and after it sounds good. After the party, no one is going to be looking at your feet anymore Chat Icon

I work down there too. The wind is crazy sometimes! I have been wearing tights to work for about a month.

Agreed, but I think that is pretty much always true. I'd probably wear the heels and then switch to flats later on in the party.
