it really shouldn't disgust you...
smearing sh!t on a toilet in the kids bathroom..... that is disgusting
ETA...and yes you kinda do need to see it to know. I have seen a bunch. Some better than others...
some are actually pretty amusing..

I have to agree.
Anything as serious as a seizure should not be mocked.
I think the student who is faking the seizures to get attention should certainly get the necessary attention becasue something is wrong if such drastic measures need to be taken.

And if you saw it..I WOULD BET you would laugh yourself..
some are in fact extremely comical.
People do it as i said for one of two reasons...
1. attention
2. escape..
Kids used to fake illness all the time when i was a kid to get out of school crap..
Sure this is taking it a step further..and kinda dangerous...well can be dangerous because this kids arse would be sent straight to a Er and possibly a neurologist to have medication increased unnecessarily
BUT....LIKE I SAID....if you see it..some are very funny.
I am sure this was the first time the OP has ever seen it...So i understand that shock and fear of it..
BUT..that doesn't take away from how funny they can be

No I haven't seen someone fake a seizure - but I don't find the humor in it either. Having seen many real seizures I can't find the humor in it. If it was faked poorly, I'd still be angry.
There is nothing humorous about faking serious medical conditions. Period.

there is a theatrical performance that occures when someone fakes a seizure...
which is why it can be funny
so there is a difference between faking a seizure and telling a teacher they have CANCER

It is one of the scariest things to witness and I am surprised that anyone would find it even remotely funny

While I've only witnessed a few seizures I have to agree with the sentiments expressed above. The few times I have seen a real one, they frightened me and I was very concerned for the person it was happening to.
It is never a laughing matter.

i can honestly say that i would not find it funny. it hits way too close to home anyway. i am disgusted that kids owuld actually fake this.
how is being mad/upset/disgusted overreating?
maybe if you knew someone that died form a seizure you wouldn't find it funny

NO i do not think seizures are a laughing matter...
HALF my clients, well actually MORE than half are on anti-epileptic medications and i have seen the whole range of seizures
BUT....IT is funny when you see someone trying to fake a seizure..
especially when they are NOT good at it

I'm a teacher too, and if one of my students ever decided to do something like that, for whatever reason, I'd be furious, even if it was "badly" done. Because I've been lucky enough to never witness someone really having one- so how do you know if something is truly being faked?

please do not presume anything about what i know...
again...what i am saying is that I KNOW what it is like to see this kind of thing..
seen it MANY MANY times..
so i have the experience to make the statement about how funny it is when it is done badly

thats a pretty rare case. it usually NEVER happens. like ever...
it was an extremely rare occurance for Laura.... it involved electricity.
dead baby jokes are totally different. i dont deny i have amorbid sense of humor.
if you find it funny, fine, but like i said, i am speaking for myself and saying that I could never find humor in it.

I bet it is funny AS a kid. But when you are an ADULT in a classroom, as the op was, and responsible for 30 kids, I bet it's not funny.
