Maybe you left them in the door? I would change your house locks to be on the safe side.

This happened to me once this year. I started freaking out thinking that I forgot to take them out of the door (we live in an apt. bldg.) and that someone had come by and sneaked them out of the lock. DH was away on business and I was panicking.
Turns out they had fallen between the couch cushions when I sat on the couch to take a phone call when I first got in the door from grocery shopping. It was the first time I ever really loudly and angrily yelled at myself. 
I hope you find them.

Did you check to see if your pants, jacket or pocket book has a hole in the lining where the keys could have fallen through?

Since you referenced this link. Did you try the trash and under the mats (once you get in the car) as well as the door pockets (if you have them). Try under furniture and any overhanging low cabinetry like under the kitchen cabinets. Worst case, you'll need to start in a corner of each room and look in, then around, then under every single object in a room working in a pattern.

It may be in the car. I have locked my keys in mine before and still have no idea how the door locked without me.
I found mine finally behind my DD car seat.
One other time, "swiper" had put them on the side of the house.

Did you look inside the pockets of the clothes you wore that day? Laundry room? Under the car? Maybe they dropped and got kicked under?
