Those that travel to Aruba - Hyatt or Marriott
I'm going in a couple of weeks. I booked the Hyatt, as that is where I stayed many years ago, but I heard it's all changed. The last two nights I am switching to Marriott because a convention is coming to Hyatt and my last two nights at Hyatt are $800 a night so got such a great deal at Marriott for those two nights. I am thinking of switching to Marriott completely or adding more nights there and less at Hyatt or half and half. I remember years back I felt like Marriott was out of the way by itself. We do like to be in the middle of where everything is. I read on TA that the pool at Hyatt is too small for the amount of guests and lounge chairs are on top of each other. This has me worried, as a hotel I stayed at in Key West was like that and forced me not to stay at pool. So torn. I only have a certain amount of time to change this around.

We have a timeshare and use the Marriott Surf Club. I looove it. Awesome pool, great for kids, and even though we rent a car, it's walking distance to many things

Re: Those that travel to Aruba - Hyatt or Marriott
I stayed at both, 2 years apart - Hyatt for my honeymoon 6 years ago, and Marriott for what wound up being a baby moon 2 years later!
I don't know what's "different" about the Hyatt now but I do know the pool felt like it had more than enough space for the guests, though the palapas on the beach always involved a PITA process of reserving them at 5 am or some crazy early time. Pool lounge chairs will be hard to get wherever you are during crowded times.
When I stayed at the Marriott, it definitely felt different, but mostly because it's in a different location. I preferred the location of the Hyatt because it's a good walk even back to that area from the Marriott. I enjoyed my stay though and the room and pools and everything were great. Ruth's Chris is on site at the Marriott and it was amazing. If I were to choose between the two, I'd choose the Hyatt but only by a little.
Some side notes - The Hyatt feels a little more upscale for adults, and the Marriott feels like children are more welcome there. Also, they've since built up the area around the Marriott with a Ritz Carlton and I imagine it will be fancier now and with more going on! I don't think you can really go wrong with either one. Sorry I feel like this isn't all that helpful LOL but really I love Aruba so much and there's good and bad about both so I'd just go with what's cheaper!
And to throw a totally different wrench into your plans... my friend stayed at the Sheraton right near the Hyatt and said it was so nice, and I think a lot cheaper. Just in case you wanted alternate options instead of the Marriott since it's so far from the center of the Palm Beach area. It looked perfectly nice and had nice pools last time we were there.

We've stayed at both the Hyatt and the Marriott as well.
The Hyatt was more centralized but, I felt the Marriott was more spacious and not much of a walk.
There isn't a Sheraton in Aruba. There was a Westin but, it's something else now.

Re: Those that travel to Aruba - Hyatt or Marriott
Thank so much for the responses. Are they both equally nice or is one nicer than the other? Now I found out the pool bar is being renovated and is closed. It's supposed to open close to my trip but may not be open at all and open the week later. Was looking forward to having a drink at the pool. How long of a walk is it from Marriott to the main area where Hyatt is?

I am currently at the Marriott. I would say from marriott to Hyatt is about 15 minutes at most, probably less since I walk slow. I walked from Marriott to the riu, the northern of Palm beach hotels and round trip walking on the beach was 45 minutes.

We always stay at the Marriott and love it. Also, best part is you can go to the hotel or either timeshare's for lunch and just use your room number to pay. It's not a far walk at all to the mall area and for restaurants. Been doing it for years.

Too funny you are there now. Thanks for taking the time to respond to my post. I have been at the Hyatt but never the Marriott and was curious how the compared. How is the pool area? I read on Trip Advisor they play loud music all day and some were complaining about it. Is it crowded?

Thank you. What is in this mall and restaurant area? Is it a lot of restaurants? I was there years back and I believe it wasn't there.

Surf club is only for surf club, louder as there are a lot of kids. Ocean club pool has loud music and games, but depends on when you are there. Resort has an area of music and an area for quiet.
Beach tends to be quiet other than people talking.
