Those who do CIO/ferber or whatever sleep training method
So DS has a NASTY cold, stuffy and at night his nose is RUNNING like crazy. So we have been doing the ferber since last Friday. He has never cried for more than 20 minutes. Last night he was SCREAMING so bad, in the first 30 mins I went in there twice he just wouldn't calm down I tried everything without picking him up. His mattress was soaked with snot and he was sweating from screaming so much....and then i did it....I PICKED HIM UP! I didn't rock him he just laid his head on my chest and within 5 mins he was OUT.
So my question is, is that bad? or does sleep training go out the window when they are sick?

They recommend that you don't do sleep training when they're unwell. I would give it a few days until he's feeling better and then try again.

Sleep training goes out the window when they are sick and you restart once they feel better (stinks to go through the beginning all over again).

I wouldn't sleep train if DS wasn't himself. Teething or cold, or whatever, its best to wait.
Sleep training is like learning a new skill, think of how hard it is to learn anything when you are sick.

Re: Those who do CIO/ferber or whatever sleep training method
For the last 3 or 4 days I haven't had to go in there once, once I put him down. Last night once he fell asleep at 845 he slept until 7am without waking up. So I am hoping not all of this training will go out the window if I stop for now.

Re: Those who do CIO/ferber or whatever sleep training method
When DD ran a fever a week and a half ago, we abandoned CIO while she was sick. Once she was better, we resumed. She did fine.
Definitely don't worry about CIO/Ferber with Tyler right now. Just snuggle him and make him feel better!

Once Sienna got better-she had a virus with 101.3, I put her back down thinking I was going to reinvent the wheel and she did just fine. I think she cried for 10 minutes tops before she went to sleep for the night.

You didn't mess anything up - he's sick so once he's better hopefully it will go back to normal
