Real.
Not much of a reason... I just like a live tree better. I don't mind the extra work of watering it and cleaning up the needles at the end of the season.
Also, it makes the house smell nice...

Fake. We always had a fake tree growing up b/c my mom was afraid of fires. Now for me and DH it's just easy. The lights are on and it looks just as pretty IMO. I buy a candle for the smell!

I've had both in my life.
With DH, we have a fake, b/c he didn't want to get a real tree while living in an apt and have to carry it up stairs to our apt.
In our new home, we're staying with the fake for at leats now b/c we have a puppy and we want to see how she copes with a fake one first before we try a real tree.

I love real trees......
But they are a mess and they dry out quickly if you dont water them every day.
I like to decorate the first week of December for Christmas and having a real tree means I'd have to wait longer to decorate unfortunately.
I love the fake tree we bought. It's tall and looks real!

I used to be so against fake! But now I am all for it. Easier to maintain but the needles still fall off of the damn thing when you are putting it up and taking it down. I find the needles when I move things sometimes.
Also its easier to leave up longer.

i love real trees, but have a fake one. i can keep it up longer w/o worrying about it drying out. Plus, I don't have to worry about it if we go OOT. i like to burn evergreen candles though to get the smell of a real tree in our house.

100% real. Nothing beats the scent, plus I just like the way it looks better. Even the most realistic artificial trees look fake to me.

I love real trees, I love the smell, it is so Christmassy. The last 2 years we have had a fake tree as my two cats seem to be under the impression that the real tree is a play thing for them, which is odd as the first 9 years they paid no attention to it. I was still finding little bells in June. I would prefer a real tree

i grew up with a fake, which i loved putting up. but i've started a tradition with my son being born, using real. i love the smell and fun in picking one out!

Both.
I like the ease of having a fake one, which I can put up earlier (before Thanksgiving).
But DH and I both enjoy our annual trip upstate to find and cut down our real tree with our friends from CT. It's a lot more work, but gotta' love the smell!
