Those Working Till The End....

I have somewhat of a stupid question... LOL

I plan on working till the end... but how do you REALLY know when the END is...?? Chat Icon

Like, what if my EDD comes, and I still feel just very much preggo, but nothing happened, and I'm not dialated or anything....do I keep on working? How do I let work when my last day really will be?

I only have the 6 week leave, so I am going to seize up as many days working just to spend more time with lil peanut.... so just curious how to work that all out... Chat Icon

Laugh if up if ya want LOL Chat Icon

Re: Those Working Till The End....

Your job shouldn't require you to tell them when your "last day" is going to be. Tell them you are working until the baby comes. that's all. Until my dr. says..go to the hospital...Im working. Chat Icon ETA: unless your dr. tells you to leave work before hand of course!!

To me, the end would be when I start to have contractions, my water breaks or until my Dr tells me to stop working.

Ok.... I guess that should have been common sense...but I heard of people that were up to 2 weeks late.... My job isn't requiring an exact date... but I just was curious. THANKS!!! Chat Icon

Re: Those Working Till The End....

I'm going to schedule myself to work until my 39th wk (since that is when I went into labor with my first) then if I'm still preggos I'll come in after that on an as needed basis.

Re: Those Working Till The End....

I can tell you from experience, I worked up & past my EDD....I kept thinking today would be my last day but then I would be back in the saddle again. Honestly the last straw was 9/1 when I had vision issues. Went to see my OB & she sent me to L&D to get checked out. I was told NO DRIVING! So that sealed my fate but I still did work from home. I actually worked 2 days before I delivered.

Re: Those Working Till The End....

I taught dance when I was pregnant with DS up until the day before my induction- which was 5 days past my due date.

Re: Those Working Till The End....

h/r has asked and so has my boss...(i understand my boss asking b/c he'll need to hire a temp at some point). i live in PA and commute to NY so there will be atime im sure the dr says i dont want you on the trains anymore.

however, i've told my boss i want to work as long as i can to save whatever time im allowed for afterwards. If my dr. says its ok to travel part time, my boss was ok with me doing 2 days from home..so i would break it up--one day in/one day out, etc. and i know that would help me with commuting.

so its really up to the dr. at this point. I would like to work as long as i can though. Dh keeps arguing about this with me.

yup i agree...I will prob go till the week before my due date (schools are on vacation that week so it s perfect time to end). However i remember with my DS by 34 weeks I was so done (I ended work around 37 weeks), but I don't have the luxury this time around to end early as my supervisor won't be able to find a someone to cover me till right before I give birth.

Re: Those Working Till The End....

For me I am going until the Dr says but lately i just dont know how I am going to make it because the hour commute into the city each way is killer on me!!

I told my office I will play it by ear and i have been working my butt off to get as much done as possible so that I leave as little work for my assistant as possible.

You shouldnt give them an exact date, just do as much as you can as early as you can so that you are always prepared. Chat Icon

Re: Those Working Till The End....

For me the end is Friday 9/25, I'm due Sunday, 9/27. I refuse to come in past my due date. Seeing how things go, I may see if I can work from home past that date if it comes down to it.
