Thoughts on Becoming a Mother
Found this while I was looking for inspirational quotes. It has been probably posted before but I thought it was so beautiful. Had to share...
Thoughts on Becoming a Mother There are women that become mothers without effort, without thought, without patience or loss and though they are good mothers and love their children, I know that I will be better. I will be better not because of genetics, or money or that I have read more books, but because I have struggled and toiled for this child. I have longed and waited. I have cried and prayed. I have endured and planned over and over again. Like most things in life, the people who truly have appreciation are those who have struggled to attain their dreams. I will notice everything about my child. I will take time to watch my child sleep, explore and discover. I will marvel at this miracle every day for the rest of my life. I will be happy when I wake in the middle of the night to the sound of my child, knowing that I can comfort, hold and feed him and that I am not waking to take another temperature, pop another pill, take another shot or cry tears of a broken dream. My dream will be crying for me. I count myself lucky in this sense; that God has given me this insight, this special vision with which I will look upon my child that my friends will not see. Whether I parent a child I actually give birth to or a child that God leads me to, I will not be careless with my love. I will be a better mother for all that I have endured. I am a better wife, a better aunt, a better daughter, neighbor, friend and sister because I have known pain. I know disillusionment as I have been betrayed by my own body, I have been tried by fire and hell many never face, yet given time, I stood tall. I have prevailed. I have succeeded. I have won. So now, when others hurt around me, I do not run from their pain in order to save myself discomfort. I see it, mourn it, and join them in theirs. I listen. And even though I cannot make it better, I can make it less lonely. I have learned the immerse power of another hand holding tight to mine, of other eyes that moisten as they learn to accept the harsh truth and when life is beyond hard. I have learned a compassion that only comes with walking in those shoes. I have learned to appreciate life. Yes I will be a wonderful mother.

Re: Thoughts on Becoming a Mother
My eyes are tearing. g*d d*mn these stupid hormones! That was really nice. I had a son that was conceived so easily and only once I started to experience IF did I truly get what a miracle this little boy really is. I always knew he was special but I kind of took the whole conception part for granted. Now I never will again! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for this. I copied it and sent it to my SIL. She was told she would never get pg on her own because she had "old eggs". She had one miracle baby and twins from donor eggs.
She has been one of my biggest rocks during this whole process.
I just know that if she can have 3 kids after trying so long that our times will come.

All I can think to say is "Thank You!" Those were the most thoughtful and sincere words I've heard throughout this whole process. Thank you sooo much for posting this. I'm bawling my eyes out, but in a good way.

Re: Thoughts on Becoming a Mother
Glad that this touched so many.
In the past few days - with my cycle cancelled - I have gone through so many emotions and I feel I have come out stronger than ever. I am accepting that when it is my time to be a mother I will be and that it is up to God not me. So I willc ontinue to do the best I can and know that while my decisions are important, it is God that has the final say. I am an only child due to the fact that my mother has endometriosis and I am so close with her. I know that she treasures me because I am all she ever had and I am starting to think that this is all to create the same relationship with my own child/children. Either way, I know that God has something special in store for me.
I know that this is such a hard thing to go through and I am glad I found this board to voice my questions, frustrations, and concerns. I hope that you all find peace and contentment during your journey and that it leads to the miracle that awaits us all.

Re: Thoughts on Becoming a Mother
That is SOOO beautiful
This part really touched me...
"I will be happy when I wake in the middle of the night to the sound of my child, knowing that I can comfort, hold and feed him and that I am not waking to take another temperature, pop another pill, take another shot or cry tears of a broken dream. My dream will be crying for me."
As many times as I have to get up during the night, I still wonder that I am holding MY BABY in my arms....a true miracle!!
