Good luck!!!! I have not gotten to IVF yet, but plan on transferring two if I do get to that point. I want to make sure I give myself the best possible chance to get pg, so I think two (I am almost 32) is reasonable.
I am not afraid about twins...in fact, I would LOVE twins...one and done! However, we do have twins in my family, so I am very afraid of multiples beyond twins.
I think there is an inherent risk in any IF treatment and that it is a very individual decision that you and your DH have to make. Good luck making the right decision for you!
I wouldn't worry about multiples beyond twins if I were you. From what I understand, the genetic aspect of twins is the result of ovulating more than one egg and having fraternal twins. Identical twins are not genetic, so having the egg split would just be the normal risk that you have with IVF. So, basically your odds of multiples beyond twins would be the same as any other couple that puts back two embryos. My RE did say that there is a higher likelihood of the egg splitting with IVF though. When I asked why she said they don't know exactly why there is an increased risk.
Thanks for sharing that! I never really asked about it because we didn't get to IVF yet, but it is good to know that I am not at an increased risk.
