Time line of appts. & tests
I was just curious to compare your tests and appointments to the ones I've had. I also have a few questions.
Here is what has been done for me so far:
1st Appt. (Dec. 15 - 9w 1d): Urine sample, Ultrasound (2D- black & white), Weight, Blood pressure, Pap/Yearly Exam, Consultation, Blood work. For the blood, they took 3 vials and then 5 drops of blood on a form that I had to maill to a lab. This was a test for Down's Syndrome.
2nd Appt. (Jan. 11 - 13w 5d): Met with genetics counselor to go over family history, sonogram (3D like something people have done at Impact), met with a genetics Dr. to go over Down's Syndrome results from lab. Since mine came back fine, DH doesn't need to be tested. Then down to my OB's office for weight, blood pressure, listened to LO's heartbeat and to go over Pap results and talk about any questions we had.
3rd Appt (Jan. 26 - tomorrow): They said I need blood work done for Spina Bifida testing.
I see people talking about NT scans. What is that? (Searched the chat lingo and NT = no text).
Level 1 and Level 2: when are these? Did I already have my Level 1 at 13 weeks? (the 3d sono and Down's test?)
Also, people talk about 1 hour and 3 hour glucose. When are these? (This is testing for diabetes, right?)
*I should also note I am in VA and my doctor's office is right in the hospital so everything is all under one roof (OB office, sono rooms, blood work rooms, etc.)*

Re: Time line of appts. & tests
The NT scan also known as the Ultrascreen test is where they test for down syndrome and other chromosomal problems. They do the bloodwork and take a measurement of the back of the babies neck to measure the fluid behind it. This is usually done between 11-13 weeks. This is also known as the Level 1 test I believe.
The level 2 test is done at 20 weeks where they take different measurements of the baby. It is more detailed. There is a thread on this page that talks about it. Someone had posted something about it.
The 1 hour glucose test is usually done between the 24-28th weeks I think. If you fail the 1 hour one then you have to take the 3 hour test.

Re: Time line of appts. & tests
Thank you for your response. From what you just described, that is exactly how my last appointment was (Level 1).
I still have a while for the rest. Just making sure I'm not missing anything. Thanks again.
