Re: feeding time line? and a 8 month question
Check with your ped but most babies require the same amount of breastmilk until about 6-7 months when you add 3 meals to their day. We started solids at 4 1/2 months since DD wasn't satisfied with just breast milk and formula. She also had good head and neck control, could sit up in a high chair, pushed up on her arms while on her tummy and didn't push food out of her mouth with her tongue. These are all signs they are ready for food.
Most docs recommend waiting until 6 mths but we started very gradually. She had cereal(rice and oat) once a day until 5 months, then we added a stage 1 fruit or veggie every 3 days to make sure she wasn't allergic. By six months she was having 3 meals a day- breakfast with cereal and fruit, fruit for lunch and veggie for dinner- stage 2.
By 8 months they have dairy, meats, table food, in addition to formula, breast milk and baby food.
Hope that helped!
