Tipping Question - Mani/Pedi and Hairdresser
Been wanting to ask this for some time on here.......because it has happened to me a lot in the past few months.
You go to a nail salon to get a mani/pedi. One woman does your mani and another woman your pedi. Since I pay before my mani was done I gave her the whole tip. Should I assume she will give a part of that tip to the woman doing my pedi? She usually puts it in her drawer and I don't want to be considered cheap. But then I should pay her for the mani/tip and then the other woman for the pedi/tip.
Also at the hair salon the last time...my hairdresser usually does it all for me....washes, blow dries and cuts. This last time he was pressed for time so he had another girl wash my hair and blow out my hair (he did the cut). I just gave him a tip on the total bill, but then started questioning whether he shares with the hair washer girl....especially becasue this time she did so much.
What do you all do?

usually whoever does my mani also does my pedi. but for hair, i usually go over and give the girl a tip separately from the hairdresser. and usually ill give the hairdresser a little less than i would if they washed my hair.

I only tip at the end & distribute them then.
My take is your tip is for the service & if you haven't received it, then how can you tip?

At a nail place, if someone different does the services, they split the tip (I've seen them do it - usually I get a pedi first and then a mani).
At the hair place, I distribute the tips separately.

I am a hairdresser and i have never shared a tip unless i was specifically asked to. I would assume that the client would have tipped the shampoo girl seperately.

I seperate the tips and give them to each person at the hair salon. So I literally walk over to the hairdresser and tip her, then walk over to the wash girl and tip her.
At nail places... I usually give money 2 times to the hand girl.... and say this is for you and this is for so and so who did the pedi. This way I verbally say it to her and sometimes I see her hand it to the other girl. Other times I physically walk over to the foot girl and give her $ seperately.
My take on this is... how are they supposed to know to split it if you don't at least state that to the one receiving it? If you don't tell them they won't know to do it and thus probably are not splitting it.

Shampoo girls always get tipped separately.
Mani/Pedi, I'll slip money in an easily accessible place in case this happens, but my place ALWAYS does my pedi first.
