TMI question (about mucous plug)

So, I've been having REAL, painful contractions three minutes apart for quite a few days now. Been to the doctor twice who confirmed this on the NST monitor. However, I am NOT dilated :( He did say my cervix was shortening though. Unfortunately, since I am not dilating, I am not in REAL labor just yet. So now, I'm waiting around If the baby isn't here in the next week and a half, I am scheduled for a c-section on 3/25 (Baby is measuring very big and I have some preeclampsia issues)!!

So, as I sit here waiting for SOMETHING to happen, of course, nothing is going on besides awful contractions. However, I just went to the bathroom, and sorry for TMI, I noticed quite a bit of snot-like discharge. I've had a decent amount of discharge lately, but this was gooey and snot like and completely different. There was NO blood in it, but I'm wondering if this could possibly be the start of my mucous plug. Can it come out a bit at a time??? Sorry for the nature of this post

Hey date twin! I'm not sure either- I keep checking and waiting for something to happen. I have not experienced contractions of any sort yet and no dilation either. have to wait till next dr's apt on thurs to see where we are at. Let me know what you find out about the plug

Hey, we are all due date twins!!!!! I'm not 100% sure about the plug, but it sounds encouraging!!!!

I am 1 cm dialated but no real contractions, just a lot of menstrual cramping and my ankles just started to swell yesterday.

that's what my plug looked like... no blood or anything, just snot

if you're losing the plug, it usually means you're dilating (as the cervical opening gets bigger, the plug falls out). so hopefully this means you will be a mom soon!!!
