And when u did have the baby..was he allowed to stay overnight? Annnd while laboring especially if being induced..were u alone ie no roomie? I was in l and d a couple months ago to get checked for something and there were two beds in the room so just wondering. Tyyyy

Re: to anyone who gave birth at good sam
I was alone in L&D in my room and did not have a roommate during 17 hours of labor.
However, after the baby was born, DH was not allowed to stay overnight. I even got lucky with a private room and he still was asked to leave by about 11pm.
The room I was in for L&D did not have a second bed, it was solo. I imagine that when you are in labor, DH is allowed to stay the entire time.

Re: to anyone who gave birth at good sam
I was induced at Good Sam for DS #1 in August 2010. I went in at 8pm on a Monday to start Cervidil, it was put in at 9:30pm and was to be left in for 12 hours, so overnight. DH was allowed to stay overnight with me and I had my own room. If I did go naturally, which I didn't I ended up with an emergency c-section, then that would have been the same room I would have given birth in. The nurses were really nice while I was in labor and delivery. There was only a chair for DH to sleep in but it was slow so they stole a bed on wheels and wheeled it in for him to sleep on. I started having insane contractions with the Cervidil about an hour after they put it in. Around 12 am I couldn't take it anymore and DH called his mom to come and help out. The nurses had no problem with me having another person in the room and with them arriving at 1 am lol. They even brought extra blankets for us.
I tried pushing in that same room around 3pm on Tuesday and ended up with a c-section. They take you from that room to the operating room which is on the same floor for an emergency c-section and then to recovery and then down the elevator to the maternity ward. Once in the maternity ward, DH is not allowed to stay. Visiting hours are until 8pm. They let my guests stay until 9pm and they let DH stay until 11:30pm. I had a hard time breastfeeding and a bad reaction to the pain meds that I needed to take from the c-section so I HATED not having DH with me. I pretty much fall sleep mid sentence when on pain meds and well that's really fun when trying to learn how to get a baby to latch and when he isn't latching on right he's screaming because he is hungry.
Any other questions please feel free to ask!

Re: to anyone who gave birth at good sam
DH's can stay in your L&D room since that is only you. Although if you are induced over night, the nurses will actually tell him to go home and get some sleep, since induction can be a long process. They sent my DH home and my mom stayed with me over night - both were in the room when DD was born the next morning.
Once you are on the maternity ward, no over night guests.

Re: to anyone who gave birth at good sam
I was induced and didn't get out of recovery after my csection until after 3 AM...DH was kicked out as soon as I was settled into bed at about 4....I was upset but honestly, he came back as soon as he could (he needed some rest, I can't blame him) and it actually gave me some time to be with DD in the morning since I felt like due to the csect, I didn't have that time the night before...(don't be scared by that!)
