Re: To get the flu shot or not to get the flu shot?

I got it at 4 weeks 4 days when I went for blood work. I talked about my concerns and my OB talked me through everything and highly recommended it. I never gotten the flu shot before and it wasn't bad. I had no symptoms from it. I decided to get it because I have gotten the flu last year and a couples years before that so I am afraid to get it while I am pregnant.

I got the flu shot last week at 36 weeks. My OBGYN said it not only protects me during these final weeks but it will protect the baby and continue to do so if I breast feed.

I will definitely say I am proof of the lower immune system during pregnancy. I maybe, get sick once a year with a bad cold or sinus issue. Since being pregnant I have had 3 very bad (10+ day) colds. I also work at home and would not consider me at high risk for infection except that I am a gym goer and still am at 37 weeks.

I never had a flu shot either, but both my general doc & OB said I should so I did it. Didnt have any sort of side effect or anything from it. Glad I got it! Cant run the risk around this winter baby! DH got one for the first time too. Its all about the baby now Chat Icon

got it once, never will again. My dr didn't even bring it up. If you haven't ever gotten one, I wouldn't start now.

I am also proof of lower immune system during pregnancy. I don't get sick very often at all. The last time I was sick was 2 years ago. I workout regularly too. Well I got sick last week for the first time in 2 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a nasty cold too. I didn't want to take any chances with the flu so I'm relieved I got the shot.

I got it at 12 weeks. My ob highly recommend it. I never had the flu shot before and didn't have any reactions to it.

I got it because I didn't want to risk getting the flu. The flu can be very dangerous for the mother and a developing baby. And even though I never had the flu before, your immune system is weakened during pregnancy so I didn't want to take any chance.

ITA!! Great points. I received the flu shot a month ago, no reactions at all.

The last thing you want is to put yourself and your baby at risk.
