Toddler Bed Transition Q
A few weeks ago we made the transition & things were going well (w/ the exception of a late night waking e/ night). She also wanted me to lay on the floor w/ her, which was fine b/c she'd fall asleep w/i 10 minutes.
We went away this weekend & she slept in the hotel bed no problem (w/ mommy).
The night we came home she went into her big girl bed & mommy lay on the floor but after 20 min. when I got up she threw a fit, "mommy, no, mommy lay here", so I lay back down. It literally took an hour & a half b4 she went down.
Tonight I lay down & after 50 min. tried sneaking out (the music had shut off already & her turtle light & she seemed to be out) & she got up & ran out after me crying. DH had called & he said just put her in the crib (until we could "double team" her when he's home on the weekend). She went in no problem.
My Q is this: if you lay on the floor until your DC is asleep, did you wean out of this habit after a set amount of time? Did you start leaving while they were still awake? How long did it generally take?
Have I set myself up w/ a bad habit?

Cin I did this with the crib. I think it lasted a month, but not sure. What I remember 100% for sure is at some point I realized she was staying awake just because I was in the room. When that happened I stopped the floor stuff and just put her down and said goodnight.

I think you might be setting yourself up for a bad habit. I find if I'm around, DS stays up just to see what's going on and if I move (if we're even in the room together at a hotel or something).
When we did the transition, we left him in his room and shut the sorr. Yes, he came out 6 million times, but it was always, go back in and lay down by yourself, good night. After a couple of weeks he stopped coming out as much and stopped coming out in the middle of the night. That was back in Jan/Feb. Now he'll still pops out of his room 2-3 times, but the process really takes about 5 min instead of an hour.

Re: Toddler Bed Transition Q
Cin we do the same exact thing. Gavin has been in his bed for 3 months..every night we lay in there with him on the floor, 15 minutes or so. He still gets up in the middle of the night periodically..it sucks!! I dont know if we are creating a bad habbit but i think its better then him trying to sleep in our bed, which he has never done!! I figure he's only 2 so maybe when he is 2 1/2 or so we will try the super nanny thing and just put him back..i want him to get used to the bed etc. We are going to South Carolina in October and Gavin will have his own room..i dont want him to get used to having us in there with him for any length of time. I think in a few days your daughter will go back to falling asleep in 10 minutes. THey say the average kid takes about 25 minutes to fall asleep so its not bad!!
