toddler not eating?
DS has been refusing most foods for the past 3 days. He will eat some jarred food but it's a struggle. He has to basically be STARVING to eat anything. Even his favorite foods aren't tempting him.
He's not teething - I don't think he has any more teeth to get now (he's got 16 including his 1 yr molars).
Could this be a growth spurt? He's not sick, we just went to the ped on Friday for a rash (caused by the Augmentin he was on for an ear infection). He was on Benadryl for a couple of days but his last dose was Saturday night.

Re: toddler not eating?
Is he eating or drinking anything? Does he still have dirty diapers?
He might just be asserting his independence and has decided that eating is the thing he wants control over. Lily gets like that sometimes and eats very little for days.....but as long as she seems happy, and dirties her diapers, I let it go. Eventually, she eats.

Yes, he's drinking what he normally drinks, both milk and water, and he has his normal amount of dirty diapers (usually once, sometimes twice a day).
So, stupid question - if he doesn't eat a meal, that's it? I let him go play? Do i try again in an hour, or wait until the next mealtime?

Re: toddler not eating?
That does sound very unlike Luca.
Ryan will do this occasionally, but really just for a meal. Not consecutive meals.
When he does it, I ignore the meal and carry on for the day. He still gets his snacks (fruit, graham crackers, cheese, etc) and his next meal is served as it would normally be.
However, if he doesn't eat dinner the first time it is served I will try again (with the same plate of food) an hour later. If he doesn't eat that he goes to bed without it.

Re: toddler not eating?
He has always been a good eater, but a slow eater. He's never done this before!
I need to offer him more snacks. He gets two at daycare but almost none at home. He is usually too busy playing!
The past two nights if he didn't eat his dinner (we also offered it twice) we gave him jarred food. He ate half a jar both times. It's a struggle to get him to eat. I guess I am just worried about him waking up hungry in the middle of the night!

Gratefully Ryan's eating has never affected him overnight. But I can see why you are concerned. I am just so not willing to become a short order cook. So I have the motto "you get what you get and you don't get upset"
I'm not quite sure what snacks he eats well. But if he refuses dinner maybe give him a string cheese? I feel like dairy is always a good option. Ryan used to munch on Edamame which is a protein, maybe offer that? They are delicious lightly salted.
