Toddler separation anxiety
How do you deal with this?
I am starting to think we are encountering it with JJ who is 19 months old. He is ok if I go to the store without him but if I go upstairs to get laundry or even put Nicholas to bed, he screams bloody murder & tears galore. I am also not sure if this is contributing to his 3am wakeup calls the past couple of nights....

Re: Toddler separation anxiety
Ughhhhh Yes! I have this this DS at 15 months old. He was manipulating us all last week with his bedtime and waking up several times a night. I couldnt even take it anymore, I brought him in our bed on sunday night, all night. I couldnt hear him cry anymore. Today I dont know what happened but he went back to whining/screaming for only 2 mins if that before bed and his naps. Last night I let him cio AGAIN in his crib after giving in all week and today he got it that we weren't going in. I just had to stay strong again. Its extremely annoying I feel like he tests me or something every few months to see what he can get away with. And I feel bad he does it out of nowhere, I give in and it gets worse. So I just have stay consistent.

Re: Toddler separation anxiety
DS is 20 months and exactly the same. He's fine with me leaving the house if he's with someone who he is comfortable with. When it's just me and him at home, I can't leave his sight unless it is on his terms. He's fine leaving the room that I'm in for a short amount of time, but if I walk out of the room, he freaks out. I usually just take him with me while I do everything, but you have another DS to worry about so I'm sure that's harder for you to do.

This is JJ! He can come & go out of a room without issues but if I walk out without him being able to see me, we have problems. Just yesterday I went to throw a dirty diaper in the garbage outside, I came in to him screaming & climbing up the steps to look for me It does make it harder for him to be attached to me bc of the baby but I try to bring him wherever I can

Re: Toddler separation anxiety
This is my DS also. It's been like this since around 18 months (he's 23 months now). He has a fit if I walk downstairs to do the laundry or even if I go into the bathroom & shut the door. Daddy has to take him into another room if I run out to the store, etc.
