Toddler Tantrums

DS is 16 months today. Lately, if he doesn't get what he wants, everything is a full out tantrum. Today when I picked him up from daycare, he was happy to see me, ran, gave me a big hug and kiss and then threw himself on the floor and tantrummed. Then, when we got home, I wouldn't let him take my keys out of the door, so he tantrummed and then, he saw an old bottle of milk on the counter, he went to grab it. I said "oh you must be thirsty" gave him a new bottle of milk and then he threw that around the house tantrumming! It is really driving me nuts! Any suggestions?

I think it's the name - he sounds just like my Jack. Chat Icon

The only thing I can say is that it comes in waves for the most part. Some months he's just great - and others I am tortured constantly throughout the day. I can pretty much figure out what is going to set him off now, where at the age your son was at the most random things would bring on the tantrums.

It's frustrating and absolutely exhausting. They really say to ignore the tantrum and walk away. I always found that really hard to do but you could try it! Chat Icon

I agree with Diana...it comes in waves. For the most part if TJ is kept busy he is great! This past winter being it's so cold and we have been in alot because he's been sick there are some days he is an emotional wreck Chat Icon

Ok...its not just me then :) Whew! I have been ignoring it lately, but it is hard, especially when he throws himself around! Thanks for your support!
